The Maldives islands are not just made for honeymooners – they have the luxury, fun, adventure and relaxation that you’re looking for, but the best way to tailor your next trip would be to Contact Priority Escapes. They took us on an adventure around the Maldives and after visiting three of their properties (read it here) – The next stop was Dhigali.
Dhigali is a step up in luxury, this 5-star super luxe resort can simply be described as – luxury wellness travel. If you are looking to unwind, completely relax and forget the world exists for a week this is the place. Think clean lines and lush greenery. Dhigali has been built around the jungle and not the other way around. The greenery has been preserved even in construction and every detail has been thought through. It’s the ultimate conscious stay.
One of the first experiences on the island was a glass boat. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect but it’s a one of a kind magnifying glass boat in the front of the boat where you can view the coral reef and all the gorgeous sea marina that lie beneath. The experience continues with glass kayaks and water sports. Another unique offering by Dhigali was an app for the island, where you can find all information about the restaurant, activities and even track the location of the buggies that take you around the island, at any given time. This was something that stood out for me and set them completely apart from any other property. Another beautiful feature was the Haali bar, an incredible shark-like looking bar on the sandbank north of the island. Think swings, instead of chairs, massive bean bags on the beachfront and nothing but views. For sunset you can cocktail, chill on the bean bags and catch the DJ playing a set until about midnight.
Dhigali does not spare any expense and offers a superior all-included package that provides you with premium alcohol like Johnnie Walker so it caters to the more refined palettes. If you’re looking for luxury, a 5-star spa experience and complete escape from reality then Dhigali is for you, just ask the team at Priority Escapes.
Our next stop was the Oblu resorts, our welcome straight off the speed boat was a saxophone player and roses being handed to guests. It was by the far the most romantic welcome and by far the quirkiest resort. Think pink golf carts and hammocks in your bathroom with nothing but ocean below. Oblu Libigili is an all adult resort, catering specifically to couples and single females. Something I noted during the stay was that 80% of their staff was female so as a female solo traveller I felt completely at ease. Another thing to note when looking at pricing is that ALL water sports and spa treatments are included in your package, so you don’t have to pay more – just enjoy your experience.
The water villas were spectacular and the food outstanding. Not to mention, a sneak peek at the underwater restaurant that has since opened. They have opened the biggest underwater restaurant in the Maldives offering an intimate dining experience only allowing you to book a table for two as each person has a window seat. Another unique experience is that the restaurant is shared with another Oblu resort, Ailafushi, and is situated across a bridge that connects the resorts. Ailafushi offers more value for money and caters to groups and families. It also boasts the biggest play area in the Maldives.
A trip of a lifetime is only a few clicks away. You work hard throughout the year, and this is your chance to spoil yourself. As experts in Maldives Travel, Priority Escapes offers incredible packers for travel to these islands and expert advice for first-time travellers. Pack your bags and give them a call.
