Cape Town singer and songwriter, Keanu Harker, has a Valentine’s gift for his loyal supporters in the form of a new release entitled, Be My Valentine.

The song and music video will be released today, Valentine’s Day, on all major music streaming platforms including Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Amazon and Deezer.

“I’ve always wanted to write and release a song specifically for Valentine’s Day and I’m not sure what I was waiting for,” says Harker, mentioning that the final push came from fellow singer-songwriter Ruben Rynhardt.

“Ruben is a very good friend of mine and an amazing songwriter who approached me with this song and said he envisioned me singing it and that he was sure that I’d be able to do it justice. I accepted the challenge, we brainstormed a bit and what you hear now is what we’ve come up with,” says the 27-year-old Belhar-born musician.

“The song focuses on the concept of a guy who likes a girl and is trying to get her attention. He asks her to be his Valentine and assures her that she’s the one he chooses and wants, hoping she grasps the idea of it going further than just this one day,” says Harker who believes in keeping the romance going throughout the year with his wife of three years.

Be My Valentine is a collaboration with fellow South African musician King Smasher who is known for his unique sound, mixing Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae and African sounds.

“This is the first time we’re collaborating as individual artists and the experience was really amazing, just seeing how we can come up with different ideas yet complete each other’s stories in a way that makes sense. He is one amazing artist and I’m super excited for the doors that this collaboration will open for us,” says Harker.

Be My Valentine, joins Harker’s previous single, No More, as part of his second album which will be released later this year.
