Lucille Slade is a singer, songwriter, actress, and business owner from Kimberley in the Northern Cape. She has been active in the music industry since 2016. As an independent artist, Lucille has worked with prominent industry veterans such as DJ Zinhle, Stogie T, and Anatii. Despite her accomplishments, Lucille continues to push boundaries in both her creative and business pursuits, while she furthered her studies and graduated as a part-time student at theAcademy of Sound Engineering (ASE).

Her passion for arts was discovered at an early age, and it has driven her to continuously explore and grow within the entertainment industry. With a BA Degree in Live Performance from AFDA, Lucille has built a solid foundation for her multifaceted career. She is preparing to release her debut full-length EP in 2024, marking an exciting new chapter in her journey.

A major highlight of Lucille’s career has been securing sync deals with brands such as Brutal Fruit and KFC. She has also gained placements on national radio and international television platforms. In reflecting on her experiences, she emphasises the importance of adaptability: “You need to be open to constant innovations that impact the industry. Being open to change allows you more knowledge to navigate and adjust while keeping your plans intact.”

Lucille’s aspirations for the future are centred around expanding her personal brand across Africa and the world. She is committed to developing her expertise as a business owner of an independent label. For Lucille, education is crucial to this growth, and her studies at ASE have played a significant role in shaping her outlook. “

Her advice to aspiring artists is clear: “Learn the business of music. Have integrity in the music you create and keep a standard. Collaboration is the key to longevity, but finding the right partners takes time — be patient. Your business is your responsibility, so don’t be afraid to take it on.”

Lucille’s experiences at ASE have also changed her perspective and instilled a newfound confidence in navigating the business of music. “It’s opened my mind to see the real wheels that turn the machine,” she explains. Equipped with this knowledge, Lucille feels ready to take on the challenges of the industry with clarity and determination.

With her upcoming EP and continued focus on both creative and business ventures, Lucille Slade is an artist whose journey exemplifies the power of education, resilience, and independence in shaping a successful career in the entertainment industry.
