Sony ULT FIELD 1 Gets a New Smoke Blue Look

Sony is adding a fresh Smoke Blue finish to its compact ULT FIELD 1 wireless portable speaker, bringing powerful bass, portability and a summer-ready design to the ULT POWER SOUND range.

Summer is approaching, and Sony is giving its portable speaker range a fresh new look.

The ULT FIELD 1 is now available in Smoke Blue, joining the existing Black, Off-White, Forest Gray and Orange colour options.

The new shade brings a nature-inspired earth tone to a speaker designed for music on the move — whether that means a beach day, summer road trip, poolside gathering, braai or relaxed get-together with friends and family.

But the new colour is only part of the story.

Small speaker. Big bass.

The ULT FIELD 1 is designed to deliver powerful bass from a compact, portable form.

It forms part of Sony’s ULT POWER SOUND series, which is built around powerful, deep sound.

At the heart of the ULT FIELD 1 is its ULT button.

Press it and the speaker enhances the music by boosting the low-end frequencies, adding greater depth and impact to tracks.

That makes the feature particularly suited to bass-heavy playlists and music that is designed to be felt as much as heard.

From amapiano and afro-house to South African classics and the latest local hits, the speaker is designed to keep the soundtrack going wherever the day leads.

Built for summer plans

The ULT FIELD 1 is designed with portability in mind.

It offers up to 12 hours of battery life when ULT POWER SOUND is on and the volume is set to 25, although actual performance can vary depending on factors including volume, songs played, surrounding temperature and usage conditions.

A multi-way strap makes the speaker easier to carry, while its compact design allows it to fit into different environments.

It can also be positioned vertically or horizontally.

That flexibility can be useful in spaces where room is limited.

Ready for the outdoors

Summer adventures can bring dust, water and the occasional drop.

The ULT FIELD 1 features an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating and a shockproof design.

Sony’s testing specifies an IPX7-equivalent waterproof performance and IP6X-equivalent dustproof performance, with the speaker tested with its cap securely fastened.

For waterproof testing, the speaker was tested to maintain operation when gently submerged in water to a depth of 1 metre for 30 minutes.

For dust resistance, Sony says the speaker was tested after exposure to dust particles up to 75 micrometres in diameter for eight hours.

The speaker also passed a drop test from 1.22 metres onto 5cm-thick plywood under the specified MIL-STD 810 H Method 516.8-Shock test conditions.

Sony notes that these tests do not guarantee that the speaker will suffer no damage or maintain waterproof and dustproof performance under every possible condition. Deformation or damage from dropping or mechanical shock can affect those capabilities.

A new colour for the soundtrack of summer

The addition of Smoke Blue gives consumers another way to bring the ULT FIELD 1 into their summer setup.

The compact speaker combines its portable design with the ability to switch on enhanced bass through the ULT button, while its battery life, multi-way strap and outdoor-focused construction are designed around music away from the living room.

Whether it is heading to a braai, accompanying a road trip or providing the soundtrack to a day outdoors, the ULT FIELD 1 is built to take the music along.

And now, it has a new colour to match the season.

The Sony ULT FIELD 1 Smoke Blue joins Black, Off-White, Forest Gray and Orange in the ULT FIELD 1 range.
