Johannesburg’s urban forest is getting ready for a Saturday filled with music, food, wellness, family fun, creativity and community spirit.
The Parkhurst Village Fair returns to Verity Park on Saturday, 3 October 2026, bringing together more than 100 independent crafters, makers and food vendors alongside live entertainment, wellness activities, competitions and family attractions.
Hosted by the Parkhurst Residents and Business Owners Association (PRABOA), the volunteer-led event is built around a simple idea: by the community, for the community.
There is also a bigger purpose behind the celebration.
Proceeds raised from the fair directly support PRABOA’s ongoing public space maintenance, environmental sustainability and security initiatives.
A Bigger Community Fair
Following the momentum of its successful relaunch, the 2026 Parkhurst Village Fair expands its programme with a strong lineup of local sponsors and community partners.
Vuma joins as Headline Sponsor, bringing connectivity into the park through the Vuma Connected Creative Station in the Kids’ Zone. Visitors can also find Vuma dog hydration stations across the park, while the first 100 visitors to the Vuma stand can receive special rewards.
Rawson Parkhurst joins as Platinum Sponsor. Residents Wayne and Angelo from the 4th Avenue office will be supporting the fair with community-focused property insights, while Barkhurst’s second annual dog competition and show returns as part of the event.
The fair is also supported by a broad network of local partners, including Nan Roberts Estates, Mica Hardware, GodFirst Church Parks & Parkhurst Community Church, Etherealize Inc. Studios, The Local Choice Parklands Pharmacy, PinkDrive NPC, Radiant Roofing & Contracting, Canine & Co, Pirates Running Club, Yaya’s Rusks, Sound Sanctuary, Rise Within, Daisy Toilets, 24/7 Security Services, Creative by Nature and Minuteman Press Parkhurst.

The culinary lineup travels well beyond the neighbourhood.

Craft Drinks, Coffee And Market Finds
The fair’s beverage offering includes Primal Distillery, with artisanal craft gin, vodka and signature cocktails, alongside locally crafted beers on tap from Harpers Brewing.
Coffee and hot drinks will come from Go Coffee, Dach and Pour & Matcha Pod, while Thikki Baa brings spiced Indian-inspired craft mocktails.
Away from the food stalls, the market will showcase fashion, homeware, jewellery, plants and lifestyle products.
Visitors can discover handmade resin and polymer clay jewellery from The Wild Flamingo, Indian cotton resort apparel from Boho Beach Co, hand-poured candles and beeswax products from Glow Candle Co & The Bee Space, and outdoor accessories from Bobums.

There will also be functional 3D-printed lifestyle designs from Say it… Creations and boho beaded footwear from Beachals.
A Fair For Four-Legged Visitors Too
Parkhurst Village Fair is also putting pets firmly into the spotlight.
Raw Pet Food Deli & Craighall Vet will provide nutritional guidance and specialised pet wellness products, while Sniffari Park brings an interactive dog play pod and sensory maze.
Vuma’s dog hydration stations will be available across Verity Park.
Visitors can also meet Happy Yappers and Paws for Us Therapy Dogs, who will be on site while helping raise money for a good cause.
And then there is Barkhurst’s Beloved Dog Competition, returning in collaboration with Rawson Parkhurst.
Big Band Sounds Meet Live Performances
The main stage promises a full day of live entertainment.
Janis, a professional cover singer and guitarist with more than 16 years of stage experience, will perform classics spanning rock, country, reggae, soul and folk from the 1960s to today.
Independent singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Chris Volbrecht, who has more than 30 years in the music industry, will bring acoustic guitar, piano and vocal performances to the stage.
For lovers of the classic Big Band sound, Phoenix Big Band will perform arrangements ranging from Frank Sinatra standards to Neil Diamond favourites.
The next generation of musicians will also take the stage, with students from School of Rock Parktown North performing high-energy rock classics and modern live music.
Adding another distinctive sound to the programme, Alan “The Wild Scotsman” will perform on the bagpipes.
Dance lovers can also look forward to live showcases from the Bonegio Spanish Dance Company and the Russian School of Ballet.
Start The Morning With Movement Or Stillness
The fair’s programme begins before the main 09h00 opening.
A Sound Bath Journey with Sound Sanctuary runs from 07h30 to 08h15, followed by a Silent Disco with Frolic Life from 08h30 to 09h30.
For runners, the 5km Fun Run starts at 08h00, beginning and ending at Verity Park. The run is co-hosted with Pirates Running Club and PinkDrive in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Wellness Space adds another layer to the morning, with free health screenings from The Local Choice Parklands Pharmacy and PinkDrive.
The programme includes BMI, blood pressure and artery checks, while Sound Sanctuary will lead a Crystal Singing Bowl sound bath journey.
Rise Within will also provide information around nervous system regulation, targeted breathwork and somatic movement.
A Kids’ Zone Built For Play
Families will have a dedicated Kids’ Magic Zone, featuring five jumping castles, a full day of free play, remote-control construction play and interactive entertainment.
Most Kids’ Zone activities are included in the ticket price.
The fair’s community partners GodFirst Church Parks & Parkhurst Community Church will also host Kids Area activation stands near the entrance, with free play and planned entertainment throughout the day.
Competitions Add Another Layer Of Fun
The Yaya’s Rusk-Off Competition returns for its second year, inviting novice bakers and expert cooks to submit their rusks and accompanying stories.
There is also the Parkhurst Art & Photo Competition, centred on the theme “My Parkhurst Village Moment.”
Anyone with a connection to Parkhurst can enter with an original 2D artwork, including painting, drawing, collage, digital art, textiles or photography.
No experience is required.
The programme also includes Barkhurst’s Beloved Dog Competition, celebrating local pets in collaboration with Rawson Parkhurst.
The PRABOA Wine Bar Supports The Park
For those looking to relax beneath the trees, the Village Vibes Beer Garden & PRABOA Wine Bar will offer craft beer, gin cocktails and fine wines.
Importantly, sales at the PRABOA Wine Bar directly fund local park maintenance and greening projects.
That connection between celebration and community investment runs through the fair’s entire structure.
It is a day designed to bring people together while supporting the spaces they share.
