From Friday, 25 September to Sunday, 4 October 2026, families and friends can step into Space Rescue: Your Mission Awaits at Liberty Promenade.
The immersive school holiday experience will transform the former cinema space in the Food District into a futuristic world where young explorers will need to work together to save the mission.
This is not simply about watching the adventure unfold.
The explorers are the crew.
Your Mission Awaits
Once inside the spacecraft, teams will face a series of space-themed rooms filled with challenges.
They will need to crack codes, uncover hidden clues and complete challenges to help bring the spacecraft’s systems back online.
But restoring the spacecraft is only part of the mission.
Captain Nova is still missing.
Explorers will need to follow the trail he left behind and work out how to bring him safely home.
That means teamwork will be essential.
So will problem-solving, quick thinking and a willingness to keep searching when the next clue is not immediately obvious.
Crack the Codes. Collect the Stars.
The adventure continues in the Meteor Room, where hidden QR codes will reveal Energy Stars.
Finding and collecting these stars can unlock instant prizes.
But there is an even bigger objective.
Find Captain Nova.
Those who successfully complete the mission and locate the missing captain will also stand a chance to win a share of R6,000 in Liberty Promenade vouchers.
And after navigating an intergalactic rescue mission, successful astronauts may receive another surprise: an ice cream treat from Two Scoops of Happiness.
A School Holiday Adventure for the Whole Crew
Space Rescue is designed to give families an imaginative way to spend time together during the September school holidays.
With futuristic décor, interactive challenges and opportunities to capture the adventure, the experience puts teamwork at the centre of the mission.
There is no minimum age to participate.
However, children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Explorers should also come prepared with a phone and data because QR codes form part of the experience.
For those without a phone, other activities will be available.
Prepare for Liftoff
The mission will run daily from 11:30 to 16:30 from Friday, 25 September to Sunday, 4 October.
Time slots will run for 20 minutes, with participation priced at R20 per person.
Bookings can be made at the activation area.
Both cash and card payments will be accepted.
With Captain Nova waiting to be found and the spacecraft’s systems in need of rescue, every crew member will have a role to play.
