The South African hospitality industry has taken a significant step toward recognising the vital role concierges play in delivering world-class guest experiences. The South African Concierge Forum has officially been invited to join FEDHASA, marking a historic milestone for the concierge profession in the country.

The invitation, extended by Gustav Pieterse, Chairman of FEDHASA Inland, represents more than just organisational membership. It signals a new chapter where concierge professionals will have a formal voice within one of South Africa’s most influential hospitality bodies, helping shape the future of the industry through collaboration, advocacy and professional development.

A Milestone for South African Hospitality

Founded in 1949, FEDHASA has long served as the unified voice of South Africa’s hospitality sector, representing hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, conference venues and other tourism establishments. Through its regional and national structures, the organisation plays a central role in policy development, industry transformation, skills advancement and advocacy.

The inclusion of the South African Concierge Forum strengthens that collective voice by recognising concierges as key contributors to hospitality excellence and guest satisfaction.

Representing the Forum within FEDHASA Inland will be Masood Sadulla, a prestigious Golden Key Member and Chief Concierge and Guest Experience Manager at the Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa, alongside Deon Prinsloo and Kagisho Ditira, founders of D&D Concierge Consultancy.

The appointment marks the first time that D&D Concierge Consultancy will formally represent hotel concierges within FEDHASA’s structures.

Elevating the Concierge Profession

Over the years, D&D Concierge Consultancy has built a reputation for developing concierge talent through bespoke training, consulting services and industry development initiatives.

Working closely with luxury hotels, hospitality establishments and concierge professionals, the consultancy has focused on improving guest experiences, operational excellence and service delivery across the sector.

Its new representative role within FEDHASA provides an opportunity to further strengthen professional standards while ensuring concierge professionals are represented in broader hospitality conversations.

A Stronger Voice for Concierge Professionals

For Deon Prinsloo, Co-Founder of D&D Concierge Consultancy, the invitation reflects growing recognition of the concierge profession’s importance within South Africa’s hospitality ecosystem.

“This invitation is not only an honour, but a meaningful step forward for the concierge community,” said Prinsloo. “Being recognised by FEDHASA affirms the vital role concierges play within the broader hospitality ecosystem and we look forward to contributing to industry growth, strengthening standards, and ensuring a strong, unified voice for concierge professionals.”

His fellow co-founder, Kagisho Ditira, believes the partnership marks a defining moment for the industry.

“This recognition marks a defining moment for the concierge profession, giving us a long-overdue voice within South Africa’s hospitality landscape.”

Creating New Opportunities for Growth

The collaboration is expected to create stronger alignment between concierge professionals and the wider hospitality industry while opening new opportunities for:

  • Professional development
  • Skills advancement
  • Industry networking
  • Greater professional recognition
  • Collaboration across the hospitality sector

As guest expectations continue to evolve, concierges are increasingly viewed as more than information providers. They are guest experience specialists who help shape memorable stays, strengthen tourism experiences and contribute directly to service excellence.

Strengthening South Africa’s Tourism Industry

By welcoming concierge representation into its structures, FEDHASA is acknowledging the growing influence concierge professionals have on South Africa’s tourism and hospitality landscape.

The partnership reinforces the industry’s commitment to collaboration, service excellence and continuous professional development, ensuring concierge professionals play an active role in shaping the future of hospitality across the country.

With D&D Concierge Consultancy now representing the South African Concierge Forum within FEDHASA Inland, the concierge profession enters a new era—one where its contribution to exceptional guest experiences receives the recognition it deserves.
