As the world watched the drama unfold on the iconic grass courts of Wimbledon, South African actor, media personality and entrepreneur Thapelo Mokoena found himself immersed in one of sport’s most celebrated cultural experiences. Invited by Stella Artois, the Official Beer Partner of The Championships, Mokoena travelled to London for a journey that blended world-class tennis, timeless British tradition, exceptional hospitality and African creativity.

Far more than a sporting occasion, the experience became a powerful showcase of South African talent on the global stage, bringing together fashion, music and culture in some of London’s most prestigious settings.

South African Creativity Takes Centre Stage

Joining Mokoena in London were Neimil co-founders Keneilwe Mothoa and Lubabalo Mxalisa, continuing a partnership that began at the Johannesburg launch of the limited-edition Stella Artois White Can—a tribute to Wimbledon’s famous all-white dress tradition.

Their reunion at Wimbledon reflected a growing celebration of South African creativity, style and design as they represented local innovation on an international platform.

Between enjoying the world-class tennis action, the trio connected with global creatives while showcasing contemporary African excellence in one of the world’s most iconic sporting destinations.

From Wimbledon to London’s Most Fascinating Dinner

The highlight of the trip came at Outernet London, where Stella Artois hosted its exclusive global gathering, Let’s Do Dinner, recognised as The World’s Most Fascinating Dinner.

The invitation-only event brought together influential figures from the worlds of sport, entertainment, fashion and culture.

During the evening, Mokoena and the Neimil founders shared conversations with an impressive list of international personalities, including:

  • Tennis legends Andy Murray and Maria Sharapova
  • Actor Theo James, known for The Gentlemen on Netflix
  • Singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield, best known for the global hit Unwritten

The gathering celebrated meaningful conversations, shared experiences and the connections created around the dinner table.

Lloyiso Captivates a Global Audience

One of the evening’s defining moments belonged to South African singer-songwriter Lloyiso, who opened the event with a soulful live performance.

His powerful vocals captivated the international audience and earned a standing ovation, proudly showcasing South African musical talent before some of the world’s leading creatives and cultural figures.

The performance added another memorable South African chapter to an already remarkable London experience.

A Celebration of Style, Tradition and Connection

Reflecting on the journey, Mokoena described Wimbledon as a truly unforgettable experience.

“London and Wimbledon represent the pinnacle of style and tradition, so to experience it through Stella Artois was something truly special. Sharing the journey alongside Keneilwe and Lubabalo made it even more meaningful. Ending the week at Let’s Do Dinner and watching Lloyiso perform for some of the world’s most interesting people reminded me that the most memorable moments are created around the table, where genuine conversations and lasting friendships begin.”

His words captured the spirit of the trip, where sport, creativity and meaningful human connection came together on one of the world’s biggest cultural stages.

The Wimbledon Spirit Comes to Johannesburg

While London’s celebrations may have concluded, South Africans will soon have the opportunity to experience a taste of Wimbledon-inspired elegance closer to home.

The Soiree by Stella Artois – Tennis Edition returns on 11 July 2026 at James & Ethel Gray Park in Johannesburg.

The event will feature an impressive local entertainment lineup including:

  • Thandiswa Mazwai
  • Bongeziwe Mabandla
  • Shekhinah
  • Thando Zide
  • And more

Inspired by the sophistication and atmosphere of Wimbledon, the event promises an unforgettable celebration of music, style and culture—continuing Stella Artois’ message that life’s finest moments are always Worth More.
