In a bold new chapter for South African luxury beverages, The House of BNG has introduced The Mimosa—a vibrant, brunch-inspired ready-to-drink innovation that brings morning elegance straight into the hands of modern consumers. Launched in November 2025, this sparkling new creation signals yet another milestone for the country’s premier black-owned luxury beverage brand.

A New Sparkling Star in the BNG Galaxy

Since its groundbreaking debut in 2019, The House of BNG has captivated South Africans with its Méthode Cap Classique range and celebrated success with its 0% Nectar collection. The Mimosa now joins this celebrated lineup, offering a refreshing twist on the classic brunch favourite—crafted for the fast-paced, style-conscious lifestyle of today.

Housed in a sleek 250ml can, the drink blends convenience with luxurious flair, echoing the meticulous craftsmanship that has become a hallmark of the brand. It perfectly aligns with founder Bonang Matheba’s vision of “a variant for every occasion—mimosas in the morning, Brut in the afternoon, and Nectars in the evening.”

Bonang Matheba on the Inspiration Behind The Mimosa

“I love a mimosa, and our customers have consistently asked for one, especially after we launched the non-alcoholic variant,” says Matheba. “We genuinely listen to trends and consumer preferences in the drinks market. Women are enjoying sparkling wine differently, at different times and occasions, and we need to respond to what our customers want. I’m a big fan of mimosas and have always enjoyed them, so being able to offer this is very exciting.”

Her words not only highlight the demand behind the product but also reflect the brand’s commitment to evolving with its audience—particularly women who are reshaping how, when, and where sparkling wine fits into their lives.

Craftsmanship Meets Citrus Brilliance

Developed in partnership with renowned Cape Wine Master Jeff Grier, The Mimosa is a spirited fusion of premium Stellenbosch grapes and bright, zesty orange. The result is a refreshing balance of crisp bubbles and citrus exuberance—delivering the sensory joy of a handcrafted mimosa in a grab-and-go format.

At 4.5% alcohol by volume, it is designed for easy daytime enjoyment, making it ideal for:

  • Rooftop brunches

  • Poolside gatherings

  • Picnic celebrations

  • Spontaneous moments worth toasting

Its flavour profile makes it a versatile companion to fresh pastries, smoked salmon, and citrus-forward desserts—effortless luxury in a can.

A Love Letter to Africa—Continued

The House of BNG was born from Bonang’s heartfelt mission to create a world-class luxury beverage brand rooted in African identity. What began as a passion project in 2017 took more than two years of hands-on involvement, with Matheba personally weighing in on everything from the bubble structure to the delicate balance between bitter and sweet.

Today, the brand stands proudly South African in every detail—from grape selection and winemaking to design, packaging, and production. The Mimosa continues this legacy, celebrating African excellence while delivering accessible luxury for every moment worth raising a glass.

Where to Find The Mimosa

The Mimosa is now available on Takealot, ready to elevate mornings and brighten celebrations across the country.
