Set within the leafy heart of Melrose, The Peech Hotel remains a Johannesburg landmark for discerning travellers seeking understated elegance and genuine hospitality. As winter draws in, the hotel introduces its ‘Winter Escape’ package, a carefully considered staycation designed for those wishing to escape the everyday, and reconnect with someone special , with the bonus of world-class dining on site.

A Boutique Hideaway with Character and Conscience

Originally a private home, The Peech has spent over two decades evolving into one of the city’s most loved boutique hotels. Each of its 32 guest rooms offers a calm refuge, opening onto verdant gardens, with thoughtfully appointed interiors that blend modern comforts with South African craftsmanship. The sense of heritage is palpable, with interior spaces curated to showcase the work of leading local artists and designers.

Sustainability sits at the core of The Peech’s ethos. As a Fair Trade Tourism certified property, the hotel integrates sound eco-friendly practices into daily life, from Bokashi composting and glass recycling to prioritising support for local suppliers and producers. Here, a stay is an investment in both comfort and conscience.

Dining at The Pot Luck Club Johannesburg

The arrival of The Pot Luck Club Johannesburg marks a new culinary chapter for The Peech Hotel, adding a vibrant layer to its already compelling appeal, this much-lauded restaurant now calls The Peech home, seamlessly blending a spirit of creativity with the hotel’s tranquil surrounds.

Under the watchful eye of acclaimed chef Luke Dale Roberts, The Pot Luck Club is celebrated for its adventurous approach to small-plate dining, where dishes draw inspiration from across the globe and are served in a setting that manages to be both relaxed and effortlessly chic. The newly unveiled Johannesburg space brings together a mix of natural finishes and a contemporary, urban sensibility. Whether dining indoors or beneath a canopy of trees, guests are treated to established menu favourites, think chickpea fries with truffled aioli and beef fillet crowned with café au lait sauce, alongside inventive plates that draw inspiration from the restaurant’s new location.

Head Chef Ebie du Toit and Group Executive Chef Jason Kosmas continue to steer the kitchen with their trademark flair, while longstanding manager Gray Tawanda ensures that the warm, attentive service for which The Pot Luck Club is known remains very much at the fore.

A Setting for Business and Leisure Alike

The Peech is as well suited to business travellers as it is to those seeking respite. Guests can relax by the pool, enjoy drinks at the new roof bar, or make use of private meeting rooms for focused work or small gatherings. The hotel’s prime location ensures quick access to Sandton, Rosebank, and Johannesburg’s cultural districts, while the tranquil gardens provide a welcome retreat at day’s end.
