VAJACIALS – Everything You Need to Know

Let’s just get to the truth of it all, the vajacial is in essence a facial for your intimate area. Having debuted over a decade ago, the vajacial has been a source of both confusion and curiosity ever since.

The treatment, which is an amalgamation of the words ‘vagina’ and ‘facial’, is actually more like a facial for your vulva and mons pubis (your vagina is inside you, and the vajacial is for outside skin). The vajacial is marketed as a treatment meant to help get rid of ingrown hairs, smooth bumps, and prevent acne along the bikini line and vulva as well as soothe irritated skin.

We caught up with Michelle Bittkau, Marketing Manager of WAXIT, who breaks down all the must-know facts about this fascinating pretty bits treatment.

WHAT MAKES IT POPULAR?
It’s a concept that has been around for a while. We look after the skin on our face and the rest of our body – shouldn’t we do the same for our pretty bits? The Vajacial for your Pretty Bits is a post-wax, post-shave care solution that reduces pigmentation, irritation and pesky ingrown hairs. Just like a facial, this vajacial is performed on your intimate area. A vajacial treats ingrown hairs, removes dead skin cells, smooths bumps around bikini line, prevents acne, helps with hyperpigmentation, all to maintain healthy and hydrated skin in the vaginal area.

BREAKING THE STIGMA
Not so much a stigma, but more that woman don’t know that it is a treatment that is available at their nearest WAXIT. Some women don’t want a therapist “poking around down there” but a vajacial isn’t intrusive and our WAXITologists focus mostly on the bikini line and outer labia, they don’t actually go further than they would for a Hollywood wax.

IS IT HEALTHY?
The most common myth is that a vajacial is unhealthy for your pretty bits. Remembering that we don’t go near the opening of your vaginal area and work more along your bikini line where ingrown hairs are more likely to appear. At WAXIT we use unscented products to ensure that this sensitive area will not be affected by the products.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW?
It’s a lot more popular than you realise. At WAXIT our priority is to ensure that you have the best wax ever, that doesn’t end with a wax though, your post-wax care assists you in staying smoother and more hydrated for longer without the worry of nasty ingrown hairs. This is a quick specialised treatment that focuses on your ingrown hairs and pigmentation in a professional manner to ensure that this sensitive skin is not damaged by a client picking out ingrown hairs.

HOW DOES ONE PREPARE?
We suggest you go for a wax (or shave) 3-7 days before a vajacial. You also need to prep your skin with a good post-wax routine. Your WAXITologist will advise you on the best products to use for this. Generally, you will be advised to cleanse the area daily with our Exfoliating Cleanser (R310), exfoliate the skin 3 days after your wax with our gentle Triple Exfoliant (R370) and use our Ingrown Repair Serum (R190) to ensure that ingrown hairs are kept at bay. You can also buy mini versions of these products with our WAXIT Starter Kit (R490).

WHAT IS THE TOP BENEFIT?
This process helps remove ingrown hairs and keep your skin soft, supple and smooth. A vajacial will also assist with hyperpigmentation.

COMBINED TREATMENTS?
A Healthy Hollywood is a Hollywood Bikini Wax + a Pretty Bits Treatment (also known as a vajacial) to ensure that your bikini area is kept healthy and ingrown free! Book now at your favourite WAXIT location for your Hollywood bikini wax and pay for a Pretty Bits treatment at the same time to qualify for the discounted rate from R530. This offer is available for teens, females and male clients.

YES, MEN DO IT TOO!
Did you know that men also come for a vajacial? Only we call it a Neat Nether Region (or a Brojacial). It follows the same procedure as a vajacial. Hollywood waxing is becoming exceedingly popular with the our male manscapers, and it makes sense to ensure that their nether region is also kept clear of ingrown hairs and pigmentation.

WAXIT have created a place where men and women alike can go to wax it expertly and discreetly, free from the intrusions that come with visiting full service salons. For the best wax, the team at WAXIT follow three simple steps: Prepare. Process. Pamper.

At WAXIT, they make sure that before and after your wax, your skin is cleansed, waxed, nourished and soothed. Their WAXITologists® are always available, professional and discreet. Plus, WAXIT offers additional treatments that aren’t available at “multi-functional” salons.

Whether it’s low-rise jeans, itsy bitsy bikinis or button downs, WAXIT makes sure you achieve your best look – smooth.
