Kimberley’s comedy lovers are in for a treat this Easter long weekend as acclaimed stand-up comedian Virgil Prins returns to the city with his hit one-man show Komediant.

Back for the second year running, the much-loved performance will take centre stage on Saturday, 4 April 2026, bringing a night of laughter, storytelling and sharp South African humour to the Flamingo Casino.

The show arrives by popular demand, after audiences asked for something entertaining to enjoy during the Easter long weekend — and organisers listened.

Now Kimberley gets another chance to experience the comedic energy and relatability that have made Prins one of the country’s most entertaining stand-up performers.

A Comedy Journey Through Life in South Africa

Performed in both English and Afrikaans, Komediant offers audiences a hilarious and honest journey through the life of a comedian navigating everyday realities in South Africa.

Through sharp observations and personal storytelling, Prins explores themes that resonate deeply with local audiences — including:

  • Marriage and relationships

  • Divorce and life changes

  • Finances and everyday struggles

  • Misconceptions about life as a performer

  • The unexpected joys and challenges of chasing dreams

The result is a performance that is high-energy, deeply relatable and packed with laugh-out-loud moments.

It’s comedy that doesn’t just entertain — it reflects the humour found in everyday South African life.

A Comedian With National and International Reach

Originally from the Eastern Cape, Virgil Prins has built a strong reputation across the country’s entertainment circuit.

Now firmly established within the Johannesburg comedy and entertainment scene, Prins has spent more than a decade performing for audiences both locally and internationally.

His distinctive storytelling style and quick-witted delivery have earned him widespread recognition — including the prestigious Savanna Comics Choice Comedy Award, one of the highest honours in the country’s stand-up comedy industry.

That recognition has helped cement his reputation as a performer who can connect with audiences through humour that is both personal and universally relatable.

The Perfect Easter Weekend Entertainment

For residents and visitors in Kimberley, the show offers a perfect way to kick off the Easter long weekend with friends, family or colleagues.

Whether you’re a long-time fan of South African stand-up or simply looking for a night of great live entertainment, Komediant promises an evening filled with laughter and memorable moments.

With its blend of candid storytelling, cultural observations and comedic insight, the performance captures the spirit of South African humour in its purest form.
