As the holy month of Ramadan unfolds, one of Cape Town’s most beloved shopping destinations is preparing to welcome shoppers to a vibrant celebration of culture, craftsmanship and festive preparation.

From 11 to 16 March 2026, Canal Walk Shopping Centre will host the third annual Eid Expo, transforming its Centre Court and surrounding mall spaces into a dynamic marketplace filled with local creativity, fashion, food and festive inspiration.

With around 40 exhibitors showcasing locally produced goods, the expo offers a one-stop destination for families preparing for Eid, while also celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of local makers and small businesses.

Best of all, entry is completely free, making it an accessible and welcoming event for the entire community.

Preparing for Eid in the Spirit of Ramadan

For Cape Town’s Muslim community, Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, fasting from sunrise to sunset, prayer and generosity.

In the weeks leading up to Eid al-Fitr, families begin preparing for celebrations that include festive meals, gatherings with loved ones and the tradition of wearing beautiful new outfits.

The Canal Walk Eid Expo has become a convenient destination where visitors can prepare for the celebration in one place — from refreshing their homes to selecting gifts and finding the perfect Eid attire.

A Marketplace Showcasing Local Talent

At the heart of the expo is a curated group of approximately 40 exhibitors, each bringing something unique to the celebration.

Visitors will discover a wide range of locally produced products, including:

  • Modest fashion and men’s clothing

  • Prayer attire and accessories

  • Jewellery and handbags

  • Cosmetics and beauty products

  • Books and artwork

  • Floral arrangements and gifts

By showcasing locally crafted goods, the expo also provides a platform for entrepreneurs and independent brands to connect directly with shoppers during one of the most meaningful periods on the Islamic calendar.

More Than Shopping: A Festive Family Experience

While retail remains a central attraction, the Eid Expo is designed to offer much more than a traditional marketplace.

Visitors can enjoy a series of interactive experiences and demonstrations throughout the week, including:

  • Live henna art

  • Scarf-styling sessions

  • Make-up demonstrations

  • Candle décor workshops

  • Eid table decoration tips

Together, these activities transform the expo into a lively cultural experience, where families can learn, explore and celebrate in the spirit of the season.

A Ramadan-Friendly Shopping Destination

Beyond the expo itself, Canal Walk Shopping Centre has also ensured that visitors observing Ramadan can shop comfortably throughout the day.

The mall offers:

  • A wide range of Halaal dining options for breaking the fast

  • Ample seating areas for rest breaks

  • A dedicated Prayer Room near Entrance 12, providing a convenient space for evening prayers

These facilities make the centre a welcoming environment for those balancing shopping, reflection and prayer during Ramadan.
