Sun International are playing their part to help people in need this Mandela Day, and this is how:

THE TABLE BAY HOTEL: 67 minutes making sandwiches

Date      Mandela Day 18 July
Time     12pm
Venue   The Lookout, V&A Waterfront 

This Mandela Day staff from The Table Bay hotel will join NGO Ladles of Love at the V&A Waterfront’s Lookout at 12pm. They will spend their 67 minutes making jam and peanut butter sandwiches to feed the less fortunate. The hotel has also donated funds towards the initiative and have provided them with vlogging cameras to assist with their media exposure. The sandwich making station will be at the Waterfront from 9am to 5pm.

GRANDWEST: packing over 250 000 meals with Rise Against Hunger

Date      Mandela Day 18 July
Time     9am to 1pm
Venue   The Market Hall, GrandWest

A total of 1,404 adults and children will gather at the Market Hall in GrandWest, to devote 67 minutes of their time to pack meals for Mandela Day. The adult volunteers includes staff from NPO Rise Against Hunger (RAH), GrandWest and other businesses, as well as 42 learners and three educators from De Waveren, Northway and Pinedene Primary Schools.

ASTRON ENERGY: Handover of two buses to Khayelitsha Special School

Media are invited to the handover of two buses to the Khayelitsha Special School in Cape Town as part of Mandela Day activities. The school caters to over 450 learners with various physical and learning challenges.

Leading fuel company Astron Energy donated R2 million to the school for the purchase of the two 23-seater buses. The school will customise the buses according to the requirements of learners.

Astron Energy operates South Africa’s second largest petroleum network with over 800 service stations. The donation forms part of the Company’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities, especially vulnerable sectors of our society. The Company designates July each year as its Month of Caring.
