Music icons Jimmy Nevis and Craig Lucas have joined forces for the first time to create a powerful new single, ‘Never Forget,’ out today, Friday July 19. This collaboration is not just a musical milestone but also a significant cultural event, as the song features prominently in the upcoming documentary, “A Cape Town Song: The Story of The Luxurama.”

Produced by Nicki and Liesel Priem of Little Mad Badger, along with Jimmy Nevis, the documentary aims to unveil the untold stories of the Luxurama Theatre in Wynberg. A beloved venue, the Luxurama has been a cornerstone of the local arts scene, hosting countless storytellers and musicians over the years. The project, which began in 2018, faced delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic but is now moving forward with renewed momentum.

Jimmy Nevis shared his excitement about the project, stating, “Creating music for this documentary has been a deeply meaningful experience. ‘Never Forget’ is a tribute to the artists and musicians who have shaped the legacy of the Luxurama Theatre, honoring their impact on our community.”

In conjunction with the release of ‘Never Forget,’ the producers have launched a crowdfunding campaign to support the completion of the documentary. They invite supporters to visit acapetownsong.com to contribute and help preserve the history of the Luxurama Theatre for future generations.

This initiative not only celebrates the cultural significance of the Luxurama but also highlights the resilience of community, music, and storytelling in the face of challenges and triumphs throughout history.
