The countdown has officially begun.

MSC Cruises has announced that MSC World Asia, the highly anticipated new flagship in its growing World Class fleet, will be officially named on 28 November 2026 in Le Havre, France, before embarking on its inaugural Mediterranean season just days later.

The announcement marks a major milestone for the cruise line as it prepares to welcome the third vessel in its acclaimed World Class collection. Designed to celebrate the beauty of the world’s continents and oceans, MSC World Asia will blend cutting-edge innovation with design influences inspired by Asia’s rich culture, art and landscapes.

From record-breaking attractions and immersive entertainment to world-class dining and family-focused experiences, the ship promises to redefine what travellers can expect from a Mediterranean cruise holiday.

A New Flagship Takes Centre Stage

The official naming ceremony will take place in Le Havre and will bring together international media, travel industry leaders, partners and invited guests for a celebration steeped in maritime tradition.

The event will include one of cruising’s most cherished customs: the ceremonial breaking of a champagne bottle against the ship’s bow before she begins her maiden season.

Following the ceremony, MSC World Asia will set sail from Barcelona on 4 December 2026, offering seven-night Mediterranean itineraries that include some of Europe’s most iconic destinations.

Guests will have the opportunity to visit Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia for Rome, Naples and Valletta, with embarkation available at every port.

Building on a Winning Formula

MSC Cruises CEO Gianni Onorato says the new vessel continues the success story of the company’s World Class ships.

“Our World Class ships have been a great success with guests, and MSC World Asia, the third of eight in this class, marks the next step in this journey,” he said.

“As we look ahead to her inaugural Mediterranean season, we are proud to continue delivering ships that reflect our vision, innovation, beautiful design and focus on the guest experience, with each one raising the bar even further.”

Onorato also confirmed that Captain Paolo Benini will command MSC World Asia.

The experienced captain joins the new flagship after leading MSC Euribia, including its recent deployment in Dubai.

According to Onorato, Benini’s leadership style and maritime expertise make him the ideal choice to guide the vessel into its next chapter.

Six Experiences Guests Won’t Want to Miss

To celebrate six months until the ship’s first sailing, MSC Cruises has revealed six headline attractions that will define the onboard experience.

Cliffhanger: A European First

Adventure seekers will be able to experience Cliffhanger, an over-water swing ride suspended 50 metres above the ocean.

Making its European debut aboard MSC World Asia, the attraction sends riders soaring back and forth over the sea while offering breathtaking views of the horizon below.

For thrill-seekers, it promises to be one of the ship’s most unforgettable experiences.

The Spiral @ Tree of Life

At an incredible 81.3 metres, The Spiral @ Tree of Life is set to become the longest dry slide at sea.

Guests will travel down 11 decks in just seconds while enjoying one of the ship’s most striking architectural features.

Inspired by Singapore’s famous Gardens by the Bay, the attraction also reflects the vessel’s broader Asian design influences.

Twin Racer and U Drop Waterslides

Family-friendly competition takes centre stage with the Twin Racer waterslides.

Guests can challenge each other side-by-side while racing to the finish line.

For those looking for an extra adrenaline rush, the U Drop slide delivers fast-paced thrills high above the deck.

Located within the Family Aventura district, both attractions are designed to create memorable moments for guests of all ages.

Adventure Trail High Ropes Course

Suspended above the ocean, the Adventure Trail ropes course invites guests to test their courage and balance.

The two-level course spans 6,210 square feet and includes Sky Rails that function similarly to a zip line experience.

The result is an exhilarating combination of adventure and panoramic sea views.

MSC Formula Racer

Formula 1® fans will find plenty to love inside the Hall of Games.

The MSC Formula Racer offers an immersive racing simulation where guests can virtually take control of a high-performance Formula 1® car.

The two-seat simulator reflects MSC Cruises’ ongoing global partnership with Formula 1® and delivers an authentic racing experience at sea.

MSC Luna Park Arena

One of the most innovative attractions aboard the ship will be the MSC Luna Park Arena.

Using advanced digital technology, the venue transforms its floor into an interactive gaming arena where guests can participate in dynamic competitions and experiences.

The space will also host original game shows including Code Breakers, Labyrinth and Chart Toppers, alongside themed parties and entertainment spread across two decks.

More Than Just Thrills

While the attractions are expected to grab headlines, MSC World Asia offers far more than adventure.

The ship will feature more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants, giving guests a diverse range of dining and social experiences throughout their voyage.

Families can enjoy immersive entertainment programmes, while relaxation seekers will have access to seven pools and 13 hot tubs.

The vessel will also showcase carefully curated artworks inspired by Asian landscapes and traditions, reinforcing the ship’s design identity.

For luxury travellers, MSC World Asia will offer the largest variety of MSC Yacht Club suite categories ever introduced by the cruise line.

A New Era of Mediterranean Cruising

As MSC Cruises prepares to welcome another flagship to its fleet, expectations are running high.

With innovative attractions, destination-rich itineraries and design inspired by one of the world’s most fascinating regions, MSC World Asia is positioning itself as one of the most anticipated cruise launches of 2026.

Six months from now, guests will step aboard a ship built to deliver adventure, entertainment, relaxation and discovery on a scale few vessels can match.

The countdown is officially on.
