Clearwater Mall’s Made in India Market Returns With 17 Days of Flavour, Fashion and Cultural Energy

The vibrant pulse of Indian culture is once again taking centre stage in Johannesburg as the Made in India Market returns to Clearwater Mall — this time bigger, bolder and longer than before.

From 6 to 22 March, the Upper Mall Parking Area transforms into a colourful cultural marketplace where street food aromas, striking fashion, handcrafted jewellery and vibrant community energy come together to create one of the most exciting shopping experiences on Johannesburg’s March calendar.

After the overwhelming response to its inaugural edition in August 2025, the market is back for an extended 17-day run, inviting visitors from across the West Rand and beyond to indulge in a sensory journey through flavour, style and cultural celebration.

A Market That Awakens the Senses

Step into the Made in India Market and the first thing you’ll notice is the fragrance of spices floating through the air.

Food stalls bring the heart of Indian street cuisine to life — bold flavours, aromatic dishes and irresistible snacks that tempt visitors to return for seconds… and often thirds. Around every corner, racks of colourful garments, intricate accessories and handcrafted jewellery offer fashion lovers a chance to discover statement pieces that blend tradition with contemporary flair.

But beyond the food and fashion, it’s the atmosphere itself that keeps visitors exploring. Each stall carries its own story, creating a lively environment where culture, craft and commerce blend effortlessly.

Whether you’re a dedicated foodie, a fashion hunter, or simply looking for a vibrant day out with family and friends, the market offers plenty of reasons to stay longer than planned.

A Community Experience That Keeps Growing

The first edition of the market proved that Johannesburg shoppers were ready for something different.

According to Prianka Singh Rodgers, the response in 2025 exceeded expectations.

“The energy at last year’s market was something special. People weren’t just popping in, they were exploring, eating their way through the stalls and coming back with friends. That kind of buzz is exactly what we want to create again.”

This year’s extended edition aims to build on that momentum — bringing more stalls, more flavours and more cultural experiences to the mall’s outdoor event space.

“We love what this market brings to Clearwater Mall. It celebrates culture, brings people together and gives our community an experience that feels alive. We’re proud to be bringing it back bigger and bolder,” Rodgers adds.

One of Johannesburg’s Most Affordable Outings

In a city where entertainment options can quickly become expensive, the Made in India Market stands out as one of the most accessible events in Johannesburg this March.

Entry costs just R10 per person, while children under 12 enter for free. Families will also appreciate the dedicated play area, ensuring younger visitors have plenty to enjoy while parents explore the stalls.

Open daily from 10am to 8pm, the market offers flexibility for every schedule — whether it’s:

  • a quick after-work visit

  • a leisurely weekend outing

  • or a spontaneous mid-week food adventure

17 Days of Culture, Colour and Culinary Discovery

Markets like this do more than showcase products — they create moments of discovery.

Visitors can wander between food stalls bursting with flavour, browse vibrant clothing and accessories, and soak in the lively atmosphere that turns a simple shopping trip into a shared cultural celebration.

For many Joburg residents, it’s also an opportunity to experience global culture without leaving the city.

And with 17 days to explore, there’s plenty of time to return more than once.
