Johannesburg’s cultural and luxury landscape is about to be redefined. On Thursday, 12 March 2026, the iconic cognac house Maison Martell officially unveils The Maison Martell — an immersive cultural residence set to transform the Montecasino Outdoor Event Area into a destination where luxury, music, gastronomy, fashion and craftsmanship collide.

Open every weekend from Thursday to Sunday throughout March, this extraordinary residency invites guests to step into a curated world where more than three centuries of cognac heritage meets the creative pulse of modern South Africa.

Designed as a destination for discovery, connection and refined indulgence, The Maison Martell experience blends artistry, storytelling and culture into a walk-through journey unlike anything currently on offer in Joburg.

A Journey Through Cognac Heritage

At the heart of the experience is Martell’s rich legacy — one that spans over 300 years of craftsmanship.

Guests will embark on a curated tasting journey showcasing two of the house’s celebrated expressions:

  • Martell Blue Swift

  • Martell XO

Through guided tastings and storytelling installations, visitors will gain insight into the artistry, patience and mastery that define one of the world’s oldest cognac houses.

It’s not simply a tasting — it’s an immersive encounter with history, craft and luxury.

The Soundtrack of the Maison

Music is central to the Maison Martell experience, and the residency launches with a powerful lineup of South Africa’s most compelling musical voices.

The opening weekend sets the tone with a celebration of contemporary sound and culture.

  • Thursday begins with the Afro-house rhythms of Darque

  • Friday brings the unmistakable amapiano sound of DJ Stokie

  • Saturday’s energy rises with a dynamic performance by Dlala Thukzin

  • The weekend closes on Sunday with the soulful vocals of Langa Mavuso

Together, these artists create a month-long celebration of music and culture, ensuring that every evening at the Maison feels both intimate and unforgettable.

Culinary Artistry by Chef Coco Reinarhz

Luxury is incomplete without exceptional cuisine.

The Maison Martell culinary programme is curated by celebrated chef Chef Coco Reinarhz, a visionary known for elevating African flavours through refined global technique.

Classically trained in the French culinary tradition and having honed his craft in Michelin-starred kitchens, Chef Coco is also the creative force behind Epicure at One.

At the Maison, his menus are crafted to evoke emotion and celebrate Africa’s culinary identity, blending heritage ingredients with contemporary haute cuisine to create dishes that are as expressive as they are sophisticated.

Fashion Meets Culture

Fashion also takes centre stage at the Maison.

Martell has partnered with global fashion house Bantu Gold to create an exclusive limited-edition collection designed specifically for the Maison Martell residency.

Fresh from showcasing at New York Fashion Week and previously appearing at Dubai Fashion Week, Bantu Gold continues to shape the global conversation around modern African fashion.

For this collaboration, the brand introduces the Bantu Maison Collection — a curated range of apparel, accessories and storytelling pieces that merge heritage, craftsmanship and progressive African design.

Guests attending the residency will have the opportunity to explore and purchase these exclusive pieces, making the experience both cultural and collectible.

Where Culture and Craft Meet

According to Tintswalo Baloyi, Category Director: Prestige & High Energy at Pernod Ricard South Africa, the Maison represents a powerful meeting point between heritage and contemporary culture.

“Martell’s philosophy of time, craft and patience blends naturally with South Africa’s cultural economy — driven by creativity, collaboration and influence. The Maison is where these worlds meet, and you are invited.”
