If you’re wondering how to spoil your special person this Valentine’s Day, then idyllic Vergelegen wine estate in Somerset West is planning the ultimate movie date under the stars. Sip award-winning wine in comfort, and nibble on delectable snacks, in a garden setting considered to be one of the most beautiful in South Africa.

The classic romantic movie is PS, I Love You, starring Oscar winner Hilary Swank alongside Gerard Butler and Lisa Kudrow. The film will be screened on the lawn outside Vergelegen’s French restaurant, Café Fleur, near the historic manor house.

Vergelegen offers two ticket options for Tuesday 14 February:

VIP – R1200 per couple: Movie, VIP seating, comfortable chairs,  a bottle of Vergelegen wine per couple (choice of Sauvignon Blanc Premium, Chardonnay Premium or Cabernet/Merlot), two bottles of water, gourmet cheese and charcuterie platter for two (vegan option available via the ticket link)  plus movie snacks of popcorn, chocolate and ice cream.

General Admission – R695 per couple: Movie, comfortable chairs, a bottle of Vergelegen wine per couple and movie snacks of popcorn, chocolate and ice cream.

Coffee, wine, soft drinks, water and sweets will be for sale and glasses will be provided. Gates open at 6.00pm and the film starts at 8pm sharp. Safe and secure parking is available on the Vergelegen field. Erinvale golf cart parking is available, on request, for visitors from the nearby Erinvale Estate Hotel and Spa. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Regretfully, no children under 13 years, due to the film age restriction.

“Beautiful wine farms are synonymous with romance, and if you’ve been considering an outdoor movie experience for a while, Vergelegen will be the perfect choice,” says MD Wayne Coetzer. “If you’re contemplating a marriage proposal too, then our exquisite rose garden is the perfect setting. It features 1500 roses and, appropriately, the central feature is a bronze sculpture of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of beauty and love.”
