The Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 is a good option for anyone in the market for a budget-friendly fitness tracker. It offers a solid blend of features, performance, and affordability, making it a great contender in its category.

Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 features a sleek and modern design, with a larger 1.6-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 256 x 402 pixels. I appreciate the vibrant and sharp display, enhancing the overall experience by making notifications and interactions clear and easy to read. The lightweight design, at just 38 grams with the strap, offers comfort throughout the day, for casual wear and during workouts.

Features and Performance
The Galaxy Fit 3 supports over 100 different sports and activities. The device includes essential sensors such as an accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, optical heart rate sensor, and light sensor. These sensors provide accurate tracking of various activities, from steps and calories burned to heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking.

One useful feature is the connected GPS, which, while not as precise as built-in GPS, offers decent tracking accuracy when paired with a smartphone. However, this reliance on connected GPS means the Fit 3 cannot be ideal for those who prefer to leave their phone behind when taking runs.

The Samsung Health app
The Samsung Health app integrates seamlessly with the Galaxy Fit 3, offering a comprehensive platform for monitoring and analysing health and fitness data. The app tracks food intake, and sleep patterns, and provides insights into overall health, making it a valuable companion for anyone looking to improve their lifestyle. Your Medical aid points will thank you, and should you want to keep an eye on your calorie intake, or deficit, this is a great tool to manage your weight. Also, the Fit 3 offers practical features like weather updates, a calculator, a calendar, and even camera control, which photographers may find particularly useful.

Despite its many strengths, the Galaxy Fit 3 does have some limitations. The lack of NFC support means it cannot be used for contactless payments, which is a feature available in some similar and higher-end devices. Initial firmware stability issues have also been noted, though these are likely to be resolved through updates.

Durability
The battery life of the Galaxy Fit 3 is advertised as up to 13 days on a single charge, but real-world usage suggests it may be closer to 4-7 days, depending on usage patterns. Charging is relatively quick, with the device reaching 65% in about 30 minutes, allowing you to get up and go quickly and easily.

The Fit 3 is IP68 and 5ATM rated for water and dust resistance, making it suitable for swimming and other water-based activities up to 50 meters deep for 10 minutes. Just note that it’s not recommended for diving or high-pressure water activities.

Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 stands out as an excellent budget-friendly fitness tracker at the retail price of R1295. It combines a sleek design, a robust feature set, and the reliability of Samsung’s ecosystem. While it lacks some advanced features like NFC and built-in GPS, it offers a comprehensive tracking experience and integrates well with Samsung Health.

For anyone seeking a stylish, functional, and affordable fitness tracker, the Galaxy Fit 3 is a solid choice. It may not replace high-end smartwatches, but it provides excellent value for its price, making it a worthwhile investment for fitness enthusiasts and casual users alike.
