On 19 December 2025, Durban’s Hue Café will transform into a sanctuary of rhythm, memory, and soul as celebrated pianist and composer Sibusiso Mashiloane returns to the stage with two of his closest musical allies — bassist Dalisu Ndlazi and drummer Riley Giandhari. Together, they form the Mash Trio, a unit known not only for their precision, but for their spiritual depth, their chemistry, and their ability to turn every performance into a living, breathing conversation.

For one night only at 18:00, the trio invites audiences into an intimate world where African sonic traditions, improvisation, and personal storytelling merge into something both profound and electrifying. Tickets, available at R350 via Webtickets, are already stirring anticipation — and for good reason.

A Decade of Sound, Reimagined Live

Few South African pianists have carved a musical language as unmistakable as Sibusiso Mashiloane. His compositions — crafted between 2016 and 2025 — pulse with the echoes of home, the warmth of community, and the shifting textures of memory. At Hue Café, he will revisit these defining works, not as nostalgic reflections, but as evolving, living soundscapes shaped anew through improvisation.

This is not a concert.
It is a journey.
A return to the familiar — reshaped by the spontaneity of the moment and the collective heartbeat of three musicians who know one another intuitively.

The Mash Trio: Chemistry Forged Over Time

The Mash Trio is not merely a collaboration — it is a brotherhood of rhythm and resonance.

  • Dalisu Ndlazi grounds the performance with his earthy, emotive bass work, weaving lines that anchor and elevate every phrase.

  • Riley Giandhari brings fire, finesse, and remarkable rhythmic intelligence, a drummer whose sensitivity is as powerful as his fluency.

  • Sibusiso Mashiloane, at the helm, navigates melody and emotion with a rare blend of technical mastery and cultural rootedness.

Together, they create music that feels ancient yet new, structured yet free, deeply personal yet universally resonant.

A Night Elevated by Special Guests

Adding further brilliance to the evening is the revered saxophonist Linda Sikhakhane, whose voice on the horn is both haunting and heavenly. His presence promises to lift the performance into moments of transcendence — the kind that leave audiences holding their breath.

Hue Café: The Perfect Vessel

Located at 24 Campbell Ave, Windermere, Berea, Hue Café is known for its warmth, intimacy, and immersive atmosphere. It is a venue that doesn’t just host music — it honours it. For a performance built on connection and sensitivity, there could be no better home.

An Unmissable Moment for South African Jazz Lovers

Sibusiso Mashiloane’s work stands at the intersection of heritage and innovation. This performance, held at a time when South African jazz continues to blossom globally, is a testament to that legacy — and a gift to listeners who crave authenticity, artistry, and emotional truth.

If you love music that moves the soul, honours the past, and expands the future, this is a night you cannot afford to miss.
