InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town Reimagines Luxury

Cape Town is on the brink of welcoming back one of its most legendary hotels — and this time, it returns transformed. Within just a few weeks, the InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town will reopen its doors, unveiling a masterfully reimagined expression of elegance at one of the world’s most breathtaking addresses.

This hotel is no newcomer to grandeur. First inaugurated in 1997 by former President Nelson Mandela, the property has long been celebrated as a landmark of sophistication, seamlessly stitched into the fabric of the V&A Waterfront. Now, as it steps into a new chapter, the InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town offers something even deeper: a contemporary tribute to the extraordinary landscape that embraces it.

Where Sea, Mountain and Modern Luxury Meet

The hotel’s refreshed identity is inspired by the raw beauty surrounding it — the deep Atlantic, the harbour’s pulse, and the ever-majestic Table Mountain. Step inside, and this connection to place becomes radiant.

Guest rooms and suites have been renewed to evoke calm, clarity and connection, each framing iconic views that shift with the light of day. On the sixth floor, the all-new Club InterContinental Private Lounge elevates this experience further. More than an exclusive hideaway, it is a sanctuary of refinement, offering sweeping vistas of the harbour and Table Mountain — with the rare possibility of catching a whale gliding through the bay.

A New Culinary Chapter: Crafted, Considered, World-Class

What awaits guests next is the unveiling of a curated collection of dining and social experiences designed to honour the hotel’s unparalleled setting.

From sun-drenched poolside dining to seasonal small plates and artisanal cocktails crafted with creativity and story, every outlet promises a sensory celebration. And leading this new culinary wave is a name globally synonymous with excellence: Michelin-star chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen.

With the launch of Le Bistro de JAN, guests will encounter his famed French bistro concept — now artfully reimagined with South African warmth, flavour and soul.

Luxury Reimagined, Service Elevated

The InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town has been redesigned with one intention: to offer ultra-personalised, deeply intuitive hospitality. Every detail reflects this ethos.

Guests can expect:

  • Dedicated Concierge excellence

  • A bespoke, tranquil spa

  • A state-of-the-art gym

  • Planet Trekkers — an enriched programme for younger adventurers

  • Effortless access to the vibrant V&A Waterfront

And at the heart of it all is a team whose legacy runs deep.
General Manager Joanne Selby emphasises this continuity:

“It may be a shiny new jewel, but key elements were preserved. The most precious of these is our team. All staff have been retained, and we look forward to delivering elevated hospitality with the familiar faces our guests know.”

A New Global Connection

With this reopening, the hotel proudly becomes Cape Town’s first InterContinental and the newest member of the IHG One Rewards® network — linking guests to a global community of over 130 million members and an extraordinary portfolio of more than 6 000 hotels and resorts.

What’s unfolding at InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town is not simply a renovation — it is a rebirth. A carefully crafted experience where elegance meets authenticity, where heritage meets modernity, and where every guest encounter is shaped with intention.

A distinctive, timeless chapter is about to begin… and Cape Town is ready
