South Africa’s beloved genre-bender and soul-splitter, Craig Lucas, is back — and this time, he’s not holding a damn thing back.
Tip of My Tongue, his brand-new six-track EP, is not the follow-up to a polished pop debut. It’s something far more dangerous, more honest — and more thrilling. It’s a confessional. A late-night voice note. A diary page he never meant to share. And now? He’s blasting it through the speakers with every ounce of blood, humour, and heartbreak he’s got left in him.
“This EP is everything I’ve been biting back for years,” says Craig. “It’s messy. It’s raw. It’s me without a filter — and without the pressure to be anyone but myself.”
We first met Craig as the golden-voiced winner of The Voice SA in 2017, but Tip of My Tongue introduces us to an artist reborn — one who’s done with chasing hits and done people-pleasing. This isn’t Craig Lucas the chart-topper. This is Craig Lucas the truth-teller. And if that truth is uncomfortable? Good.
🎧 THE SOUND OF SAYING THE UNSAID
Each song on the EP feels like a cracked-open ribcage — personal, imperfect, and pulsing with life. From sarcastic anthems to gut-punch ballads, Tip of My Tongue is a wild emotional rollercoaster… and you’ll want to ride it again and again.
🔥 Tracklist:
-
Falling in Love
A sharp, funny takedown of romantic delusion. Think indie-pop therapy session — but you can dance to it. -
Love You for the Last Time
The heartbreak banger. 80s synths, cinematic drama, and that feeling of loving someone who never fully held you. -
High, Drunk & Horny
Hilarious, honest, and haunting. A tongue-in-cheek bop about addiction and self-destruction that’ll make you laugh and flinch. -
FUCK BOY (feat. Cubbi)
2000s punk-pop energy. Red flag central. A scream-along anthem for anyone who swears they’ll stop falling for losers — next week. -
Cool on the Internet
Internet perfection is a scam, and Craig’s calling it out with rap-infused vocals, biting satire, and dark, delicious production. -
Yours
The soul of the EP. A raw tribute to his late father and brother. Vulnerable, stripped-down, and devastatingly beautiful.
“Yours is the most personal song I’ve ever written. I cried writing it. I cried recording it. But it’s the song I’m most proud of,” Craig shares.
(The track also launched the Warren & Arlene Lucas Foundation, honouring his family and supporting youth development.)
🎙 A NEW ERA OF FREEDOM
Tip of My Tongue doesn’t just push the boundaries — it bulldozes them. Crafted with sonic daredevils like Dolf Willemse, Cubbi, Blake Sayer, and Jono Greyling, this EP is Craig throwing out the rulebook and trusting the chaos.
“For the first time, I’m okay with not knowing exactly who I am,” Craig confesses. “That uncertainty used to scare me — now I see it as freedom.”
And that’s what this project is: liberation, in six tracks. Messy, queer, deeply South African, and gloriously human — this isn’t just an EP. It’s a battle cry for every person who’s ever been told to tone it down, hide their pain, or smile through the wreckage.
🚨 The Bottom Line?
Listen to this EP. Share it. Cry in the car. Dance in your underwear. Send it to the friend who needs it most.
Because Craig didn’t write Tip of My Tongue to top charts — he wrote it to tell the truth. And right now, that might be the most radical thing any artist can do.
