South Africa’s rugby champions are stepping into a new kind of high-performance arena — one powered by artificial intelligence, next-generation mobile technology and premium connected devices.

In a dynamic new collaboration between Samsung South Africa and South African Rugby, several beloved South Africa national rugby union team stars recently came together for an exclusive unboxing experience featuring Samsung’s latest flagship devices: the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Held as part of Samsung’s ongoing partnership with South African Rugby, the session brought together some of the nation’s most recognisable rugby talent — including Handré Pollard, Willie le Roux, Ruan Nortje, Marco van Staden, Kurt-Lee Arendse and Canan Moodie.

But this wasn’t just another celebrity product reveal.

The event became a playful yet revealing look at how Samsung’s newest technology is positioning itself around speed, precision, power and performance — qualities deeply associated with elite sport itself.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra Steals the Show

At the centre of the experience was the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung’s newest premium smartphone designed for high-level performance and advanced mobile creativity.

The Springboks immediately put some of the phone’s standout features through their paces, reacting to the device’s impressive 100x Zoom capability and testing the smooth horizontal lock video feature designed for stable, cinematic mobile footage.

One of the biggest talking points during the session was Samsung’s built-in S Pen functionality, with players quickly experimenting with the stylus as they explored the device’s creative and productivity features.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Privacy Display also captured attention, showcasing smarter viewing protection and enhanced privacy capabilities for users constantly on the move.

In many ways, the technology seemed to mirror the qualities associated with professional athletes themselves — adaptable, intelligent, precise and built to perform under pressure.

AI-Powered Wellness Meets Elite Sport

Beyond the smartphone experience, the players also explored Samsung’s growing ecosystem of connected wearable technology.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra introduced the athletes to Galaxy AI-powered wellness insights, highlighting Samsung’s expanding focus on health tracking, recovery monitoring and smart lifestyle integration.

As wearable technology becomes increasingly important in both professional sport and everyday wellness, devices like the Galaxy Watch Ultra are positioning themselves as tools that bridge fitness, performance and intelligent lifestyle management.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro delivered immersive audio designed to elevate everything from training sessions to post-match playlists.

The premium earbuds demonstrated Samsung’s continued emphasis on connected entertainment experiences within its Galaxy ecosystem.

Technology Built for Modern Champions

The collaboration between Samsung and South African Rugby reflects the growing intersection between elite sport, technology and lifestyle culture.

Today’s athletes are not only competitors on the field — they are creators, personalities and digital storytellers operating in an increasingly connected world.

Devices like the Galaxy S26 Ultra are designed to support that lifestyle through advanced camera systems, AI integration, productivity tools and premium entertainment features.

And for Samsung, placing its newest flagship technology directly into the hands of Springbok stars reinforces the brand’s positioning around resilience, performance and innovation.

Built for speed, power and versatility, the Galaxy S26 Ultra appeared perfectly at home alongside some of South Africa’s biggest rugby names.

Samsung’s Expanding Connected Vision

Globally, Samsung Electronics continues expanding its ecosystem of AI-driven technology across smartphones, wearables, home appliances, entertainment systems and connected devices.

The company says its broader mission remains focused on creating seamless, intelligent experiences through innovation and open collaboration.

From mobile devices and wellness technology to SmartThings connectivity and AI integration, Samsung continues shaping a future where technology becomes increasingly intuitive, personalised and interconnected.

And judging by the Springboks’ reactions during the unboxing session, Samsung’s latest Galaxy lineup may already be scoring points long before kickoff.
