South Africa’s beloved award-winning girl group Jamali are ready to write the next chapter of their remarkable comeback story. The trio has officially announced the release of their brand-new single, “Ohema,” arriving on 24 July 2026 as the first official offering from their eagerly anticipated EP, Full Circle.

After reigniting excitement with their long-awaited reunion and revealing plans for their first collection of new music in more than a decade, Jamali are now building even greater anticipation with a song that celebrates confidence, resilience and the enduring strength of women.

A Song That Celebrates the Queen Within

The title “Ohema” carries a message that reaches beyond music.

Derived from the Akan language of Ghana, the word translates to “queen,” perfectly reflecting the heart of the song. The single pays tribute to women who embrace their individuality, recognise their worth and stand confidently in their own power.

Blending the unmistakable vocal harmonies that made Jamali household names with contemporary African sounds, “Ohema” delivers an uplifting anthem that proudly celebrates African identity while inspiring listeners to embrace their authentic selves.

Speaking about the new release, the group shared the personal significance behind the song.

“This song is about owning who you are and recognising the queen within yourself,” says Jamali. “After everything we’ve experienced over the past twenty years, individually and together, ‘Ohema’ feels like the perfect introduction to this new chapter. It’s confident, celebratory and authentically African.”

Twenty Years Later, the Journey Comes Full Circle

Two decades have passed since Jamali first captured the hearts of South Africans during Popstars 2003–2004.

What began as a reunion to celebrate their 20-year anniversary quickly evolved into something far greater. The overwhelming response from fans proved that the bond between Jamali and their audience had never disappeared.

Instead of simply revisiting the past, the trio have embraced a new era that honours their legacy while confidently looking toward the future.

That renewed connection laid the foundation for Full Circle, their first body of work in more than ten years and one of South Africa’s most anticipated comeback releases.

Setting the Tone for a New Era

As the first official single from Full Circle, “Ohema” introduces the musical direction fans can expect from the upcoming EP.

The release combines the timeless chemistry that made Jamali one of South Africa’s most celebrated girl groups with fresh contemporary African influences, creating music that feels both familiar and forward-looking.

The song also reinforces the group’s commitment to celebrating African culture while delivering messages of empowerment that resonate across generations.

A Comeback Rooted in Legacy and Growth

Jamali’s return represents more than nostalgia.

It reflects the evolution of three artists who have grown both individually and collectively over the past twenty years. Their reunion has become a celebration of perseverance, sisterhood and artistic maturity, allowing them to reconnect with longtime supporters while introducing their music to a new generation.

With “Ohema,” the group begin this exciting new chapter with confidence, purpose and a powerful reminder that true strength comes from embracing who you are.

Release Date

Fans can stream “Ohema” on all major digital streaming platforms from 24 July 2026.

As excitement continues to build for Full Circle, Jamali are once again proving why they remain one of South Africa’s most influential and enduring female music groups.
