WAV Festival is turning up the heat for January 2027, bringing together international stars, South African music icons and exciting DJ sets for a two-city celebration of R&B and African sounds.
The festival, presented by Africa Creative Agency (ACA), has announced a fresh wave of artists joining previously announced international headliners Ty Dolla $ign and KWN. The expanded line-up will bring WAV to Cape Town and Pretoria, with the festival making its highly anticipated Pretoria debut.
The announcement promises a meeting of global R&B, African creativity and the sounds shaping today’s music scene.
Mafikizolo and TXC lead Cape Town’s expanded line-up
WAV Festival returns to Cape Town on Saturday, 2 January 2027, with a diverse line-up that brings together established South African music icons and contemporary artists.
Beloved music duo Mafikizolo will bring their celebrated catalogue to the festival. They will be joined by Lordkez, WizTheMc, Lusanda, Thando Zide and Xowie.
The experience will also feature special guest DJ sets from TXC and Juls, with DJ Loyd and Sir Vincent adding to the festival’s musical offering.
From familiar African sounds to contemporary R&B and international influences, the Cape Town edition promises a varied musical experience for festivalgoers.
WAV Festival heads to Pretoria for the first time
On Sunday, 3 January 2027, WAV Festival will make its Pretoria debut at SunBet Arena.
International headliners Ty Dolla $ign and KWN will lead the experience, joined by Lordkez, Lusanda and Xowie.
The Pretoria line-up brings local talent into a festival built around the evolving sound of R&B. It also gives audiences in a new city the opportunity to experience WAV’s blend of international music and South African creativity.
With events in two cities on consecutive days, WAV is expanding its reach while retaining its focus on music and culture.
Where global R&B meets African creativity
WAV Festival’s identity extends beyond its artist line-up. The event brings music, fashion, culture and connection together, creating a space for different sounds and generations to meet.
The latest additions reflect that approach. Mafikizolo bring an established place in South African music, while artists such as Lordkez and Xowie represent contemporary sounds. Meanwhile, DJ sets from TXC and Juls add further genre-blending influences to the Cape Town experience.
Together, the artists reflect WAV’s vision of R&B reimagined through the sounds, styles and creativity connecting African and international audiences.
