Bonnie Bio launches natural fly and mozzie repellents made from essential oils

We love South Africa’s warm weather, but the hotter and more humid it gets – the more the mosquitos and flies love it too. To get rid of these annoying insects we turn to repellents, but with the high level of toxins found in many of these products it’s essential to choose one that is safe for you and your family.

Frank McDouall, founder of Bonnie Bio, a company focused on providing natural, toxin-free and healthier alternatives, believes that in this time of increasing cancer and autoimmune diseases, we should pay more attention to what we put on our skin and what we breathe in. He says, “Many mosquito and fly repellent products on the market contain toxins (Pyrethrum, DEET etc); we have developed a natural, toxin-free insect repellent range under the Kindness Co. brand,” he says.

Pyrethrum is derived from chrysanthemum flowers and found in many insect-repellent products. “It is natural and we’ve been led to believe it is safe, however, some recent studies have shown that it is not as safe as previously claimed. ** It is a natural, highly toxic poison.” he says.

The Kindness range of insect repellents offers a natural alternative based on a combination of essential oils that naturally repel the insects, consisting of a fly repellent burner kit, a fly repellent spray and a mosquito repellent spray. “The fly and mosquito repellents we have developed are safe for humans and they are toxin free” says McDouall.

The Bonnie Bio Kindness Co. Fly Away Repellent burner kit uses a long-lasting borosilicate glass burner, a tealight made from wax with a cotton wick, and a Kindness zero-toxin repellent that will repel flies and bees without harmful chemicals or poisons. It is 100% natural, water-based, hypoallergenic, safe for sensitive skin and will not harm your respiratory system. It can be used inside or outdoors. As with all Bonnie Bio products, the bottle is also 100% compostable.

Bonnie Bio’s Kindness Co. 100% natural fly repellent spray also contains no harmful chemicals, toxins or poisons. It is safe to spray on all surfaces, like countertops, door frames and window frames to keep the flies away. Spray it on your outside table and tablecloth before dining outside to repel flies for at least three hours. It is safe for use on skin, fabric, animals and helps to repel bees. It won’t kill flies or bees it just repels them.

The Bonnie Bio Kindness Co. Natural Mozzie Repellent is also 100% natural, fabric-safe, water-based and hypoallergenic. It’s made from essential oils. Spray it on clothes, pyjamas, bed linen and exposed skin for a peaceful night’s sleep. It’s safe for sensitive skin, toddlers and doesn’t harm the respiratory system. It lasts for at least six hours, and you can use it indoors or outdoors.

McDouall says, “For our own good health and longevity, we should clean up our lifestyle, not only what we eat but we should also carefully consider what we apply on our skins and what we inhale.”
