Peoples Theatre is delighted to bring to life the popular Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR, delivering children, parents and all those with a love of joy, music and laughter, the ideal family entertainment.

Previews of Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR begin on 14th March at People’s Theatre, with the official opening taking place on Sunday 19th March.

The show runs through the Easter holidays right up until the 23rd April to ensure that schools and families alike will be able to join in the fun of this marvelous musical theatre adventure!

Based on the smash DreamWorks animated film, Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. follows all of your favourite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the HIP HIP Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they “Move it ! Move It!” onto your stage in the adventure of a lifetime.

Alex the Lion is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York’s Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends — Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo — have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them.

Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape — with the help of some prodigious penguins — to explore the world.

Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR is directed by Jill Girard and Keith Smith, with Musical Direction by Coenraad Rall, Musical Staging by Sandy (Dyer) Richardson and Set Design by Grant Knottenbelt.

Director Jill Girard comments: “We’re so thrilled to have the opportunity to stage  Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. for the second time on the Peoples Theatre stage. The last production of this show, everyone fell in love with the characters from the movie, so here we are once again with the perfect musical theatre experience. Which is 100% family friendly.”

She continues; “Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR is hilariously funny, where each and every crazy creature is brought to life. Songs like “I like to move it” and “Best Friends” will entertain in this joyous and funny adventure, which like all good stories, ends happily ever after.”
