CapeGate Shopping Centre is rolling out a festive programme designed to turn ordinary weekends into memorable family moments. This year’s offering blends high-energy movement, handmade discoveries and a dash of Disney-inspired wonder — all aimed at giving families, fitness lovers and gift-hunters simple, joyful ways to celebrate the season.
“Holiday time often slips by in a rush,” says Zoë Enslin, CapeGate’s Marketing Manager. “We wanted to offer easy ways for people to make small but meaningful memories. Whether it is choosing a handmade gift, spending time with children or trying something active, the aim is to create simple moments that bring a bit of joy.”
Start the season with a sweat — and a smoothie
CapeGate’s Festive programme kicks off on Saturday, 29 November 2025 with the energetic Fit Club at the undercover parking area by Entrance 6. The morning’s line-up pairs a 45-minute Zumba class with a 45-minute Pilates session — a rush of cardio and calm priced at R50 per person (bookings via Webtickets). Partners Virgin Active and Kauai support the event, and every participant receives a smoothie voucher to enjoy post-workout.
It’s a neat piece of festive thinking: start the season on an active, communal note and reward effort with a little indulgence. For first-time Zumba goers or Pilates regulars, the Fit Club is meant to be inclusive, social and energising — the kind of shared activity that becomes a holiday memory.
A market that feels like a discovery
From 21 November to 24 December 2025, CapeGate’s exterior transforms into an expansive Outdoor Festive Market presented with Cape Craft. With 380 vendors filling the space, the market promises a wide selection of handmade goods, traditional décor and one-off gift ideas — plus a gift-wrapping station for finishing touches. Entry is free; trading hours match the centre’s normal schedule.
The market’s mix of craft, music and lights has even drawn international attention: Travel Noire named it among the world’s standout Christmas markets, a nod to the appeal of local makers and the atmosphere they create. For shoppers who want gifts with a story — and for small businesses needing a high-profile season — the market is the kind of place where browsing turns into discovery.
Disney-inspired ice-skating for the whole family
No festive CapeGate would be complete without a seasonal rink. The CapeGate Ice Rink inspired by Disney returns from 5 December 2025 until 11 January 2026, open daily from 10:00 to 20:00 (closed on 25 December and 1 January). Skating sessions last 50 minutes and cost R70, which includes skate hire.
Children aged 3 to 13 are welcome to take to the ice, and parents may assist on the ice at the standard rate. Friendly rink staff will be on hand to help nervous first-timers and cheer on improving skaters — a classic holiday scene where little gains in confidence become big family moments. Bookings are available via Webtickets.
A season built for small, perfect moments
Taken together, the Fit Club, the Outdoor Festive Market and the Disney-inspired ice rink show CapeGate’s approach: create low-friction opportunities for people to connect, play and give. The experiences cater to families with young children, markets lovers hunting for unique gifts, and active locals who want to start their holidays on a lively note.
