After spending time with the HONOR 600 Pro, that was our biggest takeaway. This isn’t a device that reinvents the smartphone. Instead, it focuses on getting the fundamentals right—and in several areas, it does so exceptionally well.
Over the course of our testing, we used the HONOR 600 Pro as our daily driver for work, photography, content creation, social media management, video streaming, and gaming. By the end of the experience, we found ourselves reaching for it more often than some significantly more expensive flagship devices.
First Impressions: Familiar Yet Premium
The first thing we noticed when taking the HONOR 600 Pro out of the box was how premium it feels.
The phone is slim, surprisingly comfortable to hold, and despite packing a massive battery, never felt overly bulky in the hand. At approximately 200 grams, it strikes a good balance between substantial and manageable. The build quality immediately gives off flagship energy.
We also couldn’t ignore the obvious design similarities to certain premium smartphones already on the market. Whether that is a positive or negative will depend on personal taste, but there is no denying that the HONOR 600 Pro looks far more expensive than its expected price category.
The Display: One of the Best We’ve Seen This Year
If there is one feature that impressed us consistently throughout testing, it was the display.
The 6.57-inch AMOLED panel is vibrant, incredibly sharp, and fluid thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate. Colours look rich without appearing overly saturated, while text remains crisp whether reading articles, editing documents, or scrolling through social media.
Outdoor visibility was excellent during our Johannesburg testing sessions. Even under bright winter sunlight, we rarely struggled to see what was happening on screen.
Streaming content on Netflix, YouTube and TikTok felt immersive, and gaming benefited from the smooth refresh rate.
Simply put, this is a flagship-grade display.
Performance: Fast Enough for Almost Everyone
Powering the HONOR 600 Pro is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. On paper, that’s serious hardware, and in practice, it delivers.
Apps opened instantly.
Multitasking felt effortless.
Switching between social media apps, email, camera applications and editing software happened without noticeable delays.
We also tested several demanding mobile games and found performance to be consistently smooth. Frame rates remained stable and the device handled prolonged gaming sessions better than many devices in its category. Community users have similarly reported flagship-level performance during gaming.
That said, most users will never push this phone anywhere near its limits. For everyday usage, the HONOR 600 Pro feels effortlessly fast.
Camera Performance: Mostly Excellent
The camera setup is ambitious.
A 200MP main camera is joined by a 50MP telephoto lens and a 12MP ultra-wide camera, while selfies are handled by a 50MP front-facing sensor.
During our testing, the main camera consistently delivered the best results.
Photos captured in daylight were packed with detail, colours looked natural, and dynamic range was generally strong. We were particularly impressed by portrait photography, where edge detection and background separation performed remarkably well.
The telephoto camera was another highlight. Zoom shots retained more detail than we expected, making it genuinely useful rather than simply a marketing feature.
Low-light performance was solid, although not class-leading. Night shots retained detail and managed noise reasonably well, but flagship photography enthusiasts may still find stronger performers elsewhere.
Our only real criticism concerns the ultra-wide camera.
While perfectly usable, it was noticeably less impressive than the main and telephoto sensors. Colours occasionally differed slightly from the primary camera, and image detail was softer. Other reviewers have reported similar observations.
For most users, however, the overall camera package is more than capable.
Battery Life: The Real Star of the Show
If the display impressed us, the battery amazed us.
The HONOR 600 Pro packs a massive 7000mAh battery and, honestly, it changes how you use your phone.
Throughout our testing, battery anxiety practically disappeared.
Heavy usage days involving photography, social media, navigation, streaming and messaging rarely pushed us into dangerous battery territory before bedtime.
Moderate users could realistically stretch this phone into a second day without reaching for a charger.
When charging was necessary, the included 80W fast charging made quick top-ups incredibly convenient, while wireless charging support adds additional flexibility.
In a market where battery life often feels like an afterthought, the HONOR 600 Pro stands out.
MagicOS: Good, But
HONOR’s MagicOS 10, based on Android 16, offers a feature-rich experience packed with AI tools and customisation options.
Some AI features feel genuinely useful, particularly those focused on photography and productivity.
Others feel more experimental than essential.
The software is generally smooth and responsive, but we did encounter some pre-installed applications that many users will likely remove immediately. This remains one area where HONOR could improve the experience.
Still, once customised to our preferences, MagicOS became easy to live with.
Durability That Inspires Confidence
One feature that deserves more attention is durability.
The HONOR 600 Pro carries IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection ratings, offering serious resistance against dust and water exposure.
While we certainly wouldn’t recommend intentionally testing those limits, the added peace of mind is welcome for everyday users.
The Verdict
After spending time with the HONOR 600 Pro, we came away genuinely impressed.
What it offers is something many consumers actually need: a well-rounded smartphone with excellent battery life, strong performance, a beautiful display, capable cameras, and premium design.
For content creators, professionals, students and everyday users looking for a powerful Android device without entering ultra-flagship pricing territory, the HONOR 600 Pro deserves serious consideration.
