Formula 1® is no longer just about the battle for pole position or the race to the chequered flag.

Across South Africa, Grand Prix weekends are evolving into shared social experiences where friends and families gather to predict race winners, debate team strategies, celebrate dramatic overtakes and enjoy every twist of the championship together.

As South Africans prepare to celebrate World Chocolate Day on 7 July, Nestlé KitKat® is highlighting this growing trend through its long-running “Have a Break, Have a KitKat®” message, encouraging fans to pause, connect and make Formula 1® race weekends moments to enjoy together.

Race weekends become social events

From living rooms transformed into race-day viewing spaces to creator-led gatherings bringing motorsport fans together, Formula 1® has become much more than a television event.

Fans are increasingly turning every Grand Prix into an opportunity to connect, share opinions and create lasting memories long after the race has finished.

Whether discussing qualifying performances, celebrating podium finishes or predicting championship outcomes, the excitement now extends well beyond the circuit itself.

Creators help fuel Formula 1 fandom

The growing popularity of Formula 1® is also being reflected across social media, where content creators are finding new ways to bring fans closer to the sport.

As part of the KitKat® Formula 1® partnership, creator and motorsport enthusiast Matthew Kanniah recently hosted a KitKat®-powered Formula 1® watch party, creating a space where fans could come together to enjoy the action, celebrate the sport and share the excitement with family and friends.

The event reflects the changing way many South Africans are experiencing Formula 1®—not simply as spectators, but as part of a vibrant and connected community.

Win the ultimate Formula 1 experience

Alongside celebrating race-day traditions, KitKat® is giving South African fans the opportunity to experience Formula 1® on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

Through the KitKat® Formula 1® partnership, one lucky winner will receive tickets to the legendary Monza Grand Prix in Italy, one of Formula 1®’s most iconic and historic races.

In addition, participants also stand the chance to win exciting spot prizes and KitKat® hampers during the promotion.

How to enter

Entering the competition is simple.

Participants need to:

  • Purchase any two participating KitKat® chocolates in a single transaction, either in-store or online.
  • Scan the competition QR code or send a WhatsApp message to 073 082 3517.
  • Follow the prompts to complete the entry.

Each entry must be linked to a unique till slip, which should be kept for verification purposes.

The competition is open to South African residents aged 18 years and older and runs until 30 July 2026.

One entry is permitted per transaction, with a maximum of one prize per person and household.

A chance to experience Monza

For Formula 1® fans, Monza represents far more than another race on the calendar.

The Italian circuit has become synonymous with speed, history and unforgettable moments in motorsport.

Through this campaign, KitKat® is offering South Africans the opportunity to experience that atmosphere firsthand while continuing to celebrate the growing culture of Formula 1® watch parties and shared race-day experiences closer to home.

As race weekends continue to unite fans around televisions, smartphones and social gatherings, Formula 1® is proving that some of the best moments happen not only on the track, but among the people watching together.
