As technology becomes increasingly essential for work, education, banking and everyday life, affordability has become one of the biggest considerations for South African consumers. Recognising this shift, FNB Connect has expanded its technology offering with more than 160 devices priced below R5,000, giving customers greater access to trusted brands across multiple product categories without compromising on choice.

Announced on 21 July 2026, the expanded range includes smartphones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches, gaming accessories, premium audio products, health technology and smart home devices. Customers can purchase devices using cash, eBucks or flexible repayment options ranging from three to 36 months, providing more ways to access the technology that best suits their needs.

Technology That Fits Modern Lifestyles

For many households, technology is no longer a luxury. Smartphones, laptops and connected devices have become everyday essentials that support productivity, communication, learning and entertainment.

According to Sashin Sookroo, CEO of FNB Connect, customer expectations have evolved significantly beyond simply buying a mobile phone.

“Technology has become a necessity for many households, supporting everything from work and education to banking, communication and entertainment,” says Sookroo.

The expanded product catalogue reflects this growing demand by offering customers a broad selection of devices across several technology categories and price points.

More Than Just Affordable Smartphones

While smartphones remain a key part of the offering, FNB Connect’s affordable technology range extends well beyond mobile devices.

Customers can choose from:

  • Smartphones from Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and Honor
  • Tablets for work, study and everyday productivity
  • Premium audio products, including Apple AirPods, Beats and Samsung Galaxy Buds
  • Gaming accessories such as PlayStation controllers
  • Smartwatches and fitness wearables
  • Health technology, including blood pressure monitors
  • Smart home devices and connected lifestyle products

The growing selection reflects changing consumer needs as people increasingly invest in technology that supports multiple aspects of daily life.

Premium Brands at More Accessible Prices

FNB Connect says affordability is about more than simply offering the cheapest products.

“Affordability is no longer simply about finding the lowest price. It’s about having meaningful access and choice,” says Sookroo.

“FNB Connect offers technology across a broad range of categories and price points, from value-conscious purchases and certified pre-owned devices to premium brands such as Apple, Samsung and Bang & Olufsen. Whether customers are looking for the best deal, a trusted premium brand, or the right balance between features, quality and value, they can choose the technology that’s right for them.”

Among the offering are 14 certified pre-owned smartphones and laptops, including iPhone XR (64GB and 128GB) devices from R4,499, providing customers with access to premium technology at lower price points.

Flexible Ways to Pay

Recognising that technology purchases represent a significant household expense, FNB Connect gives customers several payment options.

Devices can be purchased using:

  • Cash
  • eBucks
  • Flexible repayment plans from 3 to 36 months

Qualifying customers can also receive:

  • Up to 500GB of bonus data per month for six months
  • Up to 100% back in eBucks value on qualifying device purchases

Compatible devices are supplied with ready-to-use SIM cards, while supported smartphones can also be activated using digital eSIM technology.

A Wide Choice Across Every Category

The expanded catalogue caters to a variety of budgets and technology needs.

Highlights include:

Smartphones & Mobile Devices

Devices range from R1,669 to premium models, with brands including Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi Redmi, Huawei Nova and Honor. Certified pre-owned iPhone XR devices are available from R4,499.

Health & Wellness

Health devices from Beurer start at R269 and include blood pressure monitors, massage devices and nebulisers.

Audio

The audio range starts with Skullcandy Smokin Buds (R499) and extends to Apple AirPods Pro (R4,999), alongside products from Beats, Sony and Samsung.

Gaming

Customers can shop PS5 DualSense controllers, Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers, Nintendo Switch Lite consoles and selected Thrustmaster gaming accessories.

Wearables

Fitness trackers and smartwatches range from the Volkano Fizz Kids Watch (R469) to the Garmin Forerunner 165 (R4,729) and Apple Watch SE (R4,924).

Making Technology More Accessible

Sookroo says technology purchasing decisions now extend far beyond replacing a smartphone.

“Whether it’s a laptop for studying, a smartwatch for health and fitness, a smartphone to stay connected or headphones for entertainment, customers are looking for technology that helps them work, learn, connect and enjoy more of what matters to them.”

He adds that FNB Connect’s goal is to make those purchases more rewarding and convenient.

“We understand that customers are balancing technology needs against many other household priorities. That’s why we’re focused on making technology more accessible, rewarding and convenient. Customers can choose how they pay, use eBucks towards qualifying purchases, receive ready-to-use SIMs with compatible devices and activate eSIMs digitally on supported devices.”

“Ultimately, we want to help customers access the devices that support how they work, learn, bank and stay connected. By combining flexible ways to pay or part-pay, meaningful rewards and a simple purchasing experience, we’re making technology more accessible, rewarding and convenient.”

With more than 160 products priced below R5,000, FNB Connect is broadening access to everyday technology while giving South Africans greater flexibility in how they shop, pay and stay connected.
