With the end of the year drawing near, the downward slope means one more push before we see in the new year. At The Harvest Table, we hope to end the year knowing that we have been able to meet our customers, new and existing, where they are at.

Black Friday: traditionally an American sales tradition where we see retailers offering remarkably low discounts on product and/or services, is an opportunity for us to welcome new customers to the table. More than just an opportunity to boost sales, we view this as a way to carry our message of health to new families who may have been curious yet cautious about our product.

With the rise of ecommerce in South Africa, we have seen a surge in the popularity of Black Friday sales. We value our relationship with our customers at The Harvest Table and know that feeling burdened financially adds a weight to our lives. Our message of health is all about balance, and wholeness. Check out our tips for ways for the CONSUMER to prepare for Black Friday.

  1. Plan Ahead.

Save money in December by getting your Christmas shopping done on black Friday at discounted rates! We all know that December cash flow, hang over feeling. When January rolls around and you have more month than money. Box smart and take full advantage of some of the big discounts and make some of your Christmas purchases in November.

  1. Don’t fall into marketing traps.

Don’t fall into traps – lots of people brand deals as black Friday specials that aren’t really a saving at all. Retailers have been planning for this all year, drawing you in with bold type fonts and slick catch phrases to take notice of a product that is a minimal saving on it. Know your prices and history of the product you are interested in (this is where our first point of planning ahead comes in) to ensure your purchase is actually a deal and not just hype from the brand.

  1. Be mindful.

Have a Wishlist of products you need or have had your eye on. Be wise to stick to your list and be disciplined not to turn your shopping into a free for all of things you don’t really need.

  1. Support Local.

Small, local businesses often don’t have the same margins as big retailers but support them where you can see that they have tried to be able to offer discounts. Use the opportunity to show some love and loyalty to brands you have a connection with by continuing to shop with them and honoring their efforts to discount where they can, instead of being taken in by new brands who have flashy marketing strategies.

  1. Stock up.

Take this opportunity to shop in bulk your favorite pantry items, health supplements etc. that have good shelf lives and can take the sting off the 150 days’ worth of January.

Save yourself the feeling of dread, and the buyers remorse and use our Black Friday consumer tips to serve your family and set you up for success for the new year!
