Samsung Turns Your Smartphone Into a Personal Safety Companion with 24/7 SOS+ Emergency Assistance

In today’s fast-moving world, smartphones have become far more than devices for calls, messages, and social media.

They help us navigate unfamiliar places, stay connected with loved ones, manage our schedules, access banking services, and increasingly, provide peace of mind in situations where safety matters most.

Recognising this reality, Samsung South Africa is introducing an added layer of protection for consumers through its latest Samsung SOS+ campaign, giving eligible Galaxy A Series customers access to a full year of emergency assistance services at no additional cost.

The initiative forms part of Samsung’s ongoing commitment to delivering practical innovation that improves everyday life, ensuring that technology does more than entertain and connect—it protects.

A Smartphone That Can Help When Every Second Counts

Running from 18 May to 30 June 2026, the Samsung SOS+ campaign offers customers who purchase a new Galaxy A57 5G or Galaxy A37 5G smartphone 12 months of complimentary access to Samsung SOS+, an emergency response subscription service powered by AURA.

The offering transforms a smartphone into a personal safety companion capable of connecting users to emergency support whenever it is needed.

Whether navigating a late-night commute, travelling alone, managing family responsibilities, waiting for transport, or facing an unexpected emergency, Samsung SOS+ is designed to provide reassurance that professional assistance is only moments away.

In emergency situations, the service immediately geolocates the user and dispatches traceable private security and medical emergency services in real time.

Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week across South Africa, the platform is built to provide rapid access to support during critical moments when speed can make all the difference.

How Samsung SOS+ Works

The activation process has been designed to be simple and accessible.

Customers who purchase a qualifying Galaxy A57 5G or Galaxy A37 5G during the promotional period can redeem the offer through the Samsung Members application.

After registration on the linked AURA platform, users receive access to the service for a full year at no additional cost.

Customers have until 31 July 2026 to redeem the offer.

To maximise access to the emergency response service, Samsung recommends downloading the dedicated Samsung SOS+ application and saving the toll-free emergency number after completing registration.

The integration ensures users can access support quickly whenever they need it most.

Powered by South Africa’s Leading Emergency Response Platform

Behind Samsung SOS+ is AURA, one of South Africa’s leading emergency response technology platforms.

Since 2017, AURA has focused on modernising emergency response through technology-driven solutions that connect users with private armed response and medical emergency services in real time.

The platform has established partnerships with private security and medical response providers across the country, creating an extensive support network that reaches major cities, towns, population centres, and selected informal settlements.

This partnership brings together Samsung’s trusted mobile technology expertise and AURA’s emergency response infrastructure, creating a safety solution designed specifically for the realities of modern South African life.

Safety Meets Everyday Innovation

The Samsung SOS+ campaign reflects a growing trend in consumer technology where innovation is increasingly measured by its ability to solve practical challenges rather than simply introducing new features.

For Samsung, the initiative extends the role of the smartphone beyond communication and entertainment.

According to Rae Hargreaves, Head of Marketing: Mobile eXperience at Samsung South Africa, the goal is to provide customers with both powerful technology and meaningful peace of mind.

“Smartphones have become central to how we live, work, connect, and move through the world. With Samsung SOS+, we are extending that experience even further by offering our customers an added layer of safety and reassurance.”

Hargreaves adds that the partnership with AURA aligns naturally with the Galaxy A Series’ focus on delivering valuable everyday experiences.

“The new Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G are designed to deliver powerful everyday experiences, and through this partnership with AURA, they now also provide immediate access to trusted emergency support when it matters most.”

More Than Just Emergency Assistance

The addition of Samsung SOS+ strengthens an already impressive Galaxy A Series offering.

The latest devices continue to deliver many of the experiences consumers have come to expect from the Galaxy ecosystem, including advanced camera capabilities, intelligent AI-powered tools, reliable performance, and enhanced connectivity.

The inclusion of emergency assistance expands that value proposition by addressing a growing consumer desire for technology that supports both convenience and personal wellbeing.

For parents wanting additional reassurance for their children, professionals travelling frequently, students commuting daily, or individuals seeking greater personal security, the service introduces a practical benefit that extends beyond traditional smartphone functionality.

Technology Designed Around Real Life

As South Africans increasingly rely on their smartphones throughout every aspect of daily life, expectations around mobile technology continue to evolve.

Consumers want devices that are not only powerful and connected but also capable of supporting them in meaningful ways when circumstances become unpredictable.

Samsung SOS+ represents an example of how mobile technology is adapting to those expectations.

By combining advanced smartphone technology with real-time emergency response services, Samsung is offering customers more than a device—it is providing an additional layer of confidence and protection in an increasingly connected world.

And for Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G buyers, that peace of mind now comes included.
