What You Should Know Before Your First Wax

If you’re a fan of flawlessly smooth skin, chances are you’re familiar with the WAXIT team – the ultimate experts in the art of waxing. At WAXIT, achieving the perfect wax is as easy as one, two, three: Prepare, Process, Pamper.
With an impressive 15 wax bars across the country, WAXIT is the go-to destination for those seeking a haven of hairlessness. Here, they take your waxing experience to the next level by ensuring your skin is fully prepped, waxed with care, and properly nourished and soothed afterwards. And with their discreet and professional WAXITologists on hand, you can feel completely at ease throughout the entire process.
But that’s not all – unlike those “multi-functional” salons, WAXIT offers a range of additional treatments that cater specifically to your hair removal needs. So whether you’re a waxing newbie or a seasoned pro, WAXIT has everything you need to achieve silky, smooth skin that’s bound to turn heads.
For those venturing into the realm of waxing for the very first time, they are greeted with an adventure brimming with anticipation and the allure of the unknown. Upon entering the wax bar, a blend of nerves and curiosity takes over, leaving one uncertain of what lies ahead. The scent of WAXIT’s exclusive hypoallergenic wax fills the air, while the sight of impeccably clean treatment rooms evokes a sense of comfort and intrigue. Despite the ultimate goal of achieving smooth, hair-free skin, an array of lingering questions may still remain in ones mind: Will there be pain? Should I have shaves beforehand? Can I go to the gym afterwards?

Michelle Bittkau, Marketing Manager of WAXIT, shares 3 key pieces of key advice that everyone should know before and after their first wax, so that you can step into your next waxing appointment with confidence

Hygiene Tip 1: Steer clear of exposure to heat or anything that will make you sweat (ie. saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools, and intense exercise) for at least 6-12 hours after your wax as this can cause severe reactions and irritations.

Why WAXIT believes this is this important:  After a wax the skin is irritated and sensitive, we have just pulled out hairs leaving your pores exposed to their environments. By exposing your skin to sweat, exercising and even a hot shower, you will irritate your skin which could create ingrown hairs or even folliculitis.

Hygiene Tip 2: Avoid exfoliating or applying any deodorants or creams to freshly waxed skin for 24 hours after a wax.
Why WAXIT believes this is this important: The pores of your skin are open after a wax and you need to keep the areas as clean as possible for 24 hours. Creams, oils, perfumes and deodorants can irritate your skin and cause ingrown hairs, while exfoliating the skin so soon after a wax, will irritate your already sensitive skin and cause a reaction.

Hygiene Tip 3: Don’t wear tight fitting trousers or underwear after a wax.
Why WAXIT believes this is this important:  It is important to give your skin space to breathe after a wax  and loose fitting clothes will help with this. Your skin is very sensitive after a wax and the pores are open so you need to ensure that any clothing that is near your freshly waxed area is clean and loose.

What is your number one must-have hygiene product from WAXIT’s full range, and why?
WAXIT recommends using our Smooth Starter Kit (R450), that incudes their WAXIT Exfoliating Cleanser, WAXIT Triple Exfoliant and WAXIT Ingrown repair after waxing. WAXIT’s post wax care range is imperative to creating the perfect smooth.
Step 1: Cleanse daily with our Exfoliating Cleanser. Step 2: Exfoliate twice weekly with our Triple Exfoliant. Step 3: Treat ingrown hairs with our Ingrown Repair.
“We are masters of sleek and silky, and we focus only on fuzz. No manicures, pedicures or facials, just high-quality waxing. When it comes to our craft, only the best will do. Our master WAXITologists® also only use our very own exclusive, hypoallergenic wax – designed and manufactured locally.” says Owner, Michelle Royston.
