Anele Fairy Godmother

Johannesburg, South Africa — In a city that never stops moving, something extraordinary is about to slow time down — just enough for families to laugh a little louder, play a little longer, and rediscover the magic of being together.

From the creators of the celebrated The Luxurious Marble Circus comes a bold new chapter: The Magical Marble Family Fest — a first-of-its-kind, immersive festival designed entirely through the eyes of a child.

Taking place on 9 and 10 May 2026 at James & Ethel Gray Park, this two-day experience transforms imagination into reality — where every path leads to discovery, every corner holds surprise, and every generation finds its spark.

A Festival Where Storytelling Comes to Life

Presented by Grid Worldwide, The Goosebumps Company, The Marble Group and Investec, the festival invites families into a multi-sensory world of music, theatre, taste, movement and play.

But this is more than an event — it is a living, breathing story.

Guiding visitors through this imaginative universe is a cast of whimsical characters — from Nunu the brave flying leopard to Slo Mo the laid-back tortoise — each bringing personality, humour and heart to a world built on curiosity and connection.

A Playground Without Limits

Across the festival grounds, families will move through carefully curated “worlds” of experience:

  • Soft play zones and sensory spaces for little explorers

  • Silent discos, e-gaming arenas and glow-in-the-dark installations

  • Creative corners for art, design and hands-on building

  • Sports zones, Nerf battle arenas and giant interactive games

  • Mini markets filled with unique collectables and curiosities

Every detail has been designed to invite participation — not just observation.

From temporary tattoos and cupcake decorating to epic slides and teen dance floors, the experience is alive with moments that encourage families to play side-by-side, not just watch from the sidelines.

A Sweet, Sparkling World of Firsts

Among the festival’s standout attractions is a custom-built carousel unlike anything seen in South Africa, alongside a Willy Wonka-inspired sweet emporium complete with chocolate fountains and candy experiences.

Fan favourites return with playful reinvention:

  • The Uncaged Carousel transforms into a milkshake and “funtail” bar

  • The Pantry-inspired tasting station serves family-friendly culinary delights

For adults, indulgence meets imagination with double-decker bars overlooking the main stage, offering panoramic views of the magic below.

Music That Moves Every Generation

At the heart of the festival is a storybook-inspired main stage — alive from morning until night.

Saturday delivers a vibrant, feel-good energy:

  • Jeremy Loops brings crowd-lifting live performance

  • GoodLuck blends electronic sunshine sounds

  • Mi Casa returns with signature house-pop magic

  • DJ Fresh sets the rhythm with iconic house beats

Alongside them, rising stars like Ethan English inspire younger audiences, while nostalgic Disney singalongs create shared family moments.

Sunday shifts into a deeper groove:

  • Babalwa M and Zee Nxumalo lead amapiano and 3-step sounds

  • Sun-El Musician delivers immersive afro-house energy

  • DJ Zinhle keeps the dancefloor alive

Across both days, music becomes the thread that ties generations together.

A Fairy Godmother Leads the Magic

Bringing the story to life is none other than Anele Mdoda, stepping into the enchanting role of Fairy Godmother.

With her real-life son Alakhe by her side, she becomes the guide, storyteller and keeper of wonder — inviting families to step fully into the experience.

“Being here is about laughing more than you expected, playing more than you planned, and letting the day unfold with wonder,” she shares.

Adding sparkle to the experience is Sho Madjozi, bringing her signature colour and creativity to the festival’s interactive spaces.

Designed for Comfort, Built for Inclusion

Beyond the magic, the festival is thoughtfully designed for real family life:

  • Pram parking and nappy-changing areas

  • Safe, supervised play zones

  • A tech-enabled Together Tag system for child safety

  • Inclusive spaces for children with additional needs

Every detail ensures families can explore freely, safely and comfortably.

A Festival with Heart

With Investec as headline partner, the festival extends beyond entertainment — supporting initiatives that nurture creativity long after the weekend ends.

It is a reminder that joy, when shared, can become something lasting.

A Mother’s Day Like No Other

With Sunday falling on Mother’s Day, the festival adds a layer of emotional warmth — with thoughtful surprises and shared moments designed to celebrate the women who hold families together.

The Beginning of a New Tradition

The Magical Marble Family Fest is not just another event on the calendar.

It is:

  • A celebration of imagination

  • A space for connection

  • A reminder that the best moments are shared

From toddlers to grandparents, every generation is invited to step into a world where magic feels real — and where stories are not just told, but lived.
