Bonnie Bio launches plastic-free cling wrap – that really works!!

Cling wrap, which is always made of plastic, is one of the most convenient items in your cupboard and something many people simply can’t live without. It is also a key pollution culprit because it is not recyclable and inevitably ends up in landfill. On a mission to create plastic-free single-use products, Bonnie Bio has launched a new and improved 100% internationally certified, home-compostable cling wrap – that works.

The new Bonnie Bio cling wrap is perforated and is thicker and stronger than it was previously, making it easier to use and improving its application.

Frank McDouall, owner of Bonnie Bio, says, “Many of us who want to keep our waste footprint as low as possible have felt bad about using plastic cling wrap. We have tried to get through life without it, which has not been easy, as cling wrap is so useful and works so well. At Bonnie Bio, we decided to re-examine our cling wrap product, which we had taken off the market some years ago because it was difficult to apply. I’m delighted to say that we have improved it considerably. Now you can hardly tell the difference between our compostable, environmentally friendly product and the plastic one,” he says.

Cling wrap keeps food fresher for longer, and now there is a plastic-free version that you can compost at home, or it will compost naturally wherever it ends up.

Bonnie Bio’s plastic-free cling wrap can be used in the freezer and microwave. It is also heavy metal-free and BPA-free. It is strong and durable, perforated for your convenience, and is ‘EU food contact safe’ and ‘FDA approved’, tested and compliant. It comes in a compostable wrapper, which extends the standing life of the product.

Find Bonnie Bio cling wrap online today at https://www.bonniebio.co.za/products/cling-wrap and exclusively at selected Pick ‘n Pay stores nationwide from 16th February 2026: Recommended retail price is  R74.99
