As healthcare systems around the world face increasing pressure, a new global initiative is challenging innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers and community leaders to rethink what healthier futures could look like.
The “Go Healthy with Taiwan 2026” global proposal campaign has officially launched, inviting South Africans to bring their ideas, expertise and solutions to an international platform designed to improve health and wellbeing through collaboration, innovation and technology.
Under the theme “Designing Healthier Futures Together,” the initiative seeks practical, scalable solutions that can create measurable impact in communities, organisations and societies while leveraging Taiwan’s internationally recognised strengths in health innovation, smart healthcare, sports technology, fitness solutions and advanced cycling industries.
A Global Call for Health Innovation
Hosted locally by Impilo Global Events, the South African campaign launch is encouraging participation from universities, NGOs, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, sports scientists, wellness practitioners, researchers and community organisations.
The goal is simple but ambitious: identify innovative ideas capable of improving quality of life while fostering meaningful collaboration between South African expertise and Taiwanese technologies, products and solutions.
At a time when many nations are searching for sustainable ways to improve healthcare access, preventative wellness, mobility and healthy lifestyles, the campaign positions innovation as something that extends far beyond hospitals and laboratories.
Instead, it recognises that meaningful health solutions can emerge from classrooms, clinics, sports facilities, universities, businesses and local communities.
Designing Healthier Futures Together
The 2026 campaign reflects a growing global shift toward collaborative problem-solving.
Rather than focusing solely on competition, the initiative encourages cross-border partnerships that combine local insight with international expertise to tackle modern health challenges.
According to the official campaign platform, proposals can focus on a wide range of sectors including smart healthcare, fitness and sports technology, cycling solutions, wellness innovation, preventative healthcare and other technologies that enhance physical and mental wellbeing.
Every submission must demonstrate how Taiwanese products, solutions, technologies or collaborative partnerships can be integrated to improve health outcomes within local communities, organisations or cities.
Turning Ideas Into Real-World Impact
The opportunity extends well beyond recognition.
The campaign offers substantial support designed to help promising ideas evolve into practical, implementable solutions.
According to the organisers, up to three winning proposals globally will each receive a US$30,000 award. The top six finalists will be invited on a sponsored visit to Taiwan, where they will participate in enterprise tours, health-focused experiences and professional pitch coaching designed to strengthen their proposals.
In addition, the top 20 finalists will receive personalised mentorship from industry experts and gain access to collaboration opportunities with Taiwanese enterprises and innovators.
The programme is specifically designed to bridge ideas and implementation, creating pathways for long-term partnerships that extend beyond the competition itself.
Building on Global Momentum
The campaign arrives with significant momentum.
In 2025, the initiative attracted 638 proposals from 55 countries, highlighting growing international interest in collaborative approaches to health innovation and Taiwan’s increasing role as a global connector in the health and wellness sector.
Building on that success, organisers are once again inviting governments, institutions, enterprises and organisations worldwide to contribute ideas capable of delivering meaningful improvements in health and wellbeing.
For South Africa, participation represents more than a global competition.
It presents an opportunity for local innovators to showcase African ingenuity on an international stage while establishing valuable connections with one of Asia’s leading innovation ecosystems.
Health Beyond Hospitals
The campaign reflects an evolving understanding of health itself.
Today, wellbeing is increasingly linked not only to medical care but also to mobility, preventative health, fitness, mental wellness, sustainability and quality of life.
“Health is no longer only about hospitals,” says the South African campaign team.
“It is about mobility, prevention, mental wellness, fitness, technology, sustainability and dignity. We are looking for ideas that can genuinely improve quality of life.”
This broader vision aligns closely with global trends that place greater emphasis on proactive health management and community-driven wellbeing solutions.
An Invitation to South African Innovators
Whether it is a smart healthcare platform, a sports science innovation, a community wellness programme, a mobility solution or a technology-driven preventative health initiative, South Africans now have the opportunity to contribute to a global conversation about the future of health.
Applications for Go Healthy with Taiwan 2026 are officially open and will close on 5 August 2026.
For innovators with bold ideas and a desire to create lasting impact, the campaign offers more than funding and mentorship.
It offers the chance to help shape a healthier future — not only for South Africa, but for communities around the world.
